Nope, don't watch it (much anyway). I saw a blurb yesterday about a Ferrari going for $37M in Paris....

1957 Ferrari 335S sells for $34.9M, still not most expensive Ferrari ever sold

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

Funny thing is the brouhaha about whether the 1957 Ferrari 335S is now "the world's most expensive car ever sold at auction."

1957 Ferrari 335S becomes the world’s most expensive Ferrari at auction – in euros, anyway

Seems slot racers may not be the only group where mostly-meaningless world records are desired.

Buying collector cars is like playing the stock market. What brings millions today may not get there tomorrow. Ferraris and other high end cars are usually good bets, kinda like buying Apple or Microsoft shares.

In some cases though, the change in auction values can vary tremendously. About four or five years ago a Plymouth hemi 'Cuda convertible sold for three million, the same car struggled to get to half million this year and was a no sale.

In '07 my old 206 brought 3.4 million at the Cavallino in Italy, but just recently sold for under a million. (I feel better now since I almost shot myself when it got the 3.4.)

Be it auction or private sale, you need to have a big interest in the car you are selling. And that is far more difficult to predict than the stock market.
