Some time ago I bought a 1:24 Cox Ford GT on ebay, and as I had some other project in the line, the car was put aside for a future restoration project.

I am slowly trying to get an overview of my "collection" and took a closer look at the car as I had another GT with a sore body and a very nice chassis.

To my surprise the chassis was not a cox chassis, but it looks like something handmade out of solid aluminium:

The front axle carrier has some casting marks on it and looks like something maybe modified from a slot car part, but the rest looks like its been fabricated from either aluminum blocks or plates.

The chassis is assembled from several parts with the front end and the rear axle block being mounted by screws. The front end part carrying the front axle holder is made from a solid block of alu.

Even the guide looks home made from a teflon like nylon material  ....

Does anybody know who made it ?

I am not an expert so please don't flame me. Didn't Tamiya make a Cox clone chassis in-period?

That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten.

No, Tamiya's was very much its own design.

Niels, I would still say yours is a one-off model, probably made by a machinist. Looks like a combination between Dynamic, Cox and Tamiya - even a bit of the Adam & Sons Quad!

Nice one.

I would almost say it is a design prototype. Almost looks like something an engineer/designer made in the factory to see if it was worthy of being manufactured in a similiar style and to show the guys with the money.

The wheel rims and the small lead knob on top of the guide was heavily corroded, so the knob and the rims was cleaned by a stiff brush and then receive a couple of rounds in my ultrasonic cleaner. After a bit more cleaning the parts was painted with Testor Model Master Magnesium Metalizer which I hope will seal the surface and at the same time gave the "magnesium look"  :-)

The front rims are Cox Lotus, but I cant just find the source for the rear rims - anybody know these ??  The rear foam tires were hard and crummy, so they were replaced by some Cox clones, which match the original Cox front rubber.

Oh my god it's the holy grail of Cox slot cars. ;-)

Interesting looking piece nice find. It probably works better than a magnesium frame.

Looks inspired by Cox and a Adams and Sons car? Very cool car, someone put a ton of work into it.
