He probably went from using a nickname to his forename in the early '70s about the same time he changed his line of products from Pooch to Camen. Both new names sound more upscale than the old & you couldn't call his arms a dog.

I was there... I had Steve Bogut build me a roller for the race. While everyone else was heavily thrashing I was going into DC everyday doing the tourist thing: White House Tour, getting gallery tickets to the House of Represetitives, The Smithsonian, I was there on the opening day of the Air & Space Museum with President Ford giving the speech. At night I built the motors... a great time it was!

Correct... the two drivers on the right are Chris Berlew and Neil McCurdy... and it looks like Big Jim Greenameyer next to (purple) Bob Crane (on black)...

It wasnt this race, but some regional big race at joels the year before, jim bandes and myself went take pictures of the whitehouse at 3AM, I was surprised at the amount of undercover plain clothes security that stopped us, very impressive

But here are the Pro Main results.

It was quite a sensation that Bjarne Lilliendahl took second in qualifying. While the Americans put down a lot of glue, we wiped away as much as we could before Bjarne did his stint!

The qualifying experience was just the opposite for me and Provetti when we went to Austria to race. They put us nearly last in qualifying, maybe so they did not have to run in our glue. Every racer before us did not put glue down to qualify. In the hurry to get enough glue down on the track for me, Ernie was gluing, I was popping out quite a bit in the glue zones. Everybody was very amused that the American could not get around the track. Once the glue was set I ripped off the best qualifying time and everyone cheered when I finished. The racers treated us like royalty the two times we went to race in Europe.

Unfortunately, and I will have to check my memorabilia to make sure, Bjarne Lilliendahl was after us and cut me by about .002 seconds.

This was actually my most disappointing race ever. My semi was first and all hell broke loose. The other racers could not keep it on the track and the amount of accidents was unbelievable. I drove like crazy to finish second in my semi, and did not make the main!!!! Racers in the other semi looked at the lap times and drove the cleanest race you could imagine. 7 racers from the other semi made the main and only the winner made it from mine. I am still mad about it.

Hey so does anyone know what day this was? I do not recall racing against Bob or Steve, but it was a while ago...

In the main event Bob had asked me to take car of the car between lane changes. I had a way of changing the motors in the time allowed without fail and in the photo of the main on the Bicentennial newsletter I am right behind Bob - WHO IS WEARING MY OUTISIGHT DESIGNS

YELLOW T-SHIRT!

Thanks Bob. Do they allow glue in Heaven?
