Mark Henderson from Cottage Grove joined six locals to race Dirt Devil and Vintage ProTrack at STR on 7/25/16. Track conditions were good; however, no records were set.

Highlights
  • It was a good night for James, who swept both the Vintage ProTrack with his 65 Ford and Dirt Devil with his 69 Camaro.
  • In Dirt Devil, James and Bob battled it out for the top spot. James prevailed turning 89.2 laps with Bob about a lap behind. Rich was third about a lap down from Bob.
  • In Vintage ProTrack, James ran away from the competition finishing with 77.3 laps nearly three laps ahead of the field. The battle for the remaining spots on the podium was between Bob, Ron and Rich. In the end, Bob prevailed for second by only two sections. Ron finished a close third. Below are some featured rides.

Vintage ProTrack

It was obvious from the very start that James was going to dominate the Vintage ProTrack race. His white 65 Ford was about .25 seconds per lap faster than field. All the rest of us could do was to watch him go by. No surprises, James finished with 77.3 laps far ahead of the field. The battle for the remaining spots of the podium was between Bob, Ron, Rich and Nick. Bobs black 57 Chevy is always tough on his home turf but Rons 57 Ford presented a serious challenge. Both rides were tuned fast laps within a whisker of each other and both men drove consistent races. In the end, Bob edged out Ron by only two sections. Nick had a good night with his GTO and challenged Rich for fourth place but fell short by a bit more than a half of a lap. Below are the detailed results and images of the grid.

Dirt Devil

In practice, three cars stood out as the top tier. These included James Camaro, Bobs Chevelle and Richs 63 Chevy. All were capable of running right at the five second per lap mark. Richs Chevy was a bit loose and he decided to run a conservative race rather than risk unnecessary offs. His hope was that the others would falter. That was not going to happen on this particular evening. James and Bob battled it out for the top step of the podium. James finished first with 89.2 laps with Bob about a lap behind. Rich was third about a lap down from Bob.
Below are details of the finishing order and images of the grid.
