76 ft lane length, 9.0v, Parma Turbo chassis, X12 motor, tuna tires, wing body: consistently under 4.0, best lap 3.812 sec.

Am I doing okay for a no-tire-treatment/no-glue track?

I think so, but it's a real challenge for these old reflexes!  I'll settle down and start building some 36D thingies soon.

:)

It's hard to compute a time for custom track and unknown traction conditions.

As long as you are having fun, that's all that counts.

I'm having an absolute blast! I'm very happy that I can run a clean track and easily build a car that's way beyond my ability. Last time I raced, tire goop was the norm, and I was a bit worried about traction with this setup. It's clearly not a problem at all; just dust the track occasionally, wipe off the tires, and away you go!

Looks great, Gary, with vintage parts and all.   :good:

Send us a short video of one of your races once you get going.

Thank you. I think I have may have more parts than I need, LOL. If anyone is looking for vintage Weldun or KB Challenger gears, PM me!

Garry, If you know and don't mind saying, what brand/type of paint did Mr. Gerding use on the track surface? I love the idea of no/minimal glue.

I'll have to ask Mr. Gerding what brand, but it is epoxy paint. Glue/tire goop is absolutely not necessary, I'm very happy with the traction. I'm getting lap times under 3 seconds with X12 motor, Tuna tires, and flexi chassis on 12 volts.

Update: No organized racing yet, but having a great time with friends! Some pics...

With no glue, no tire goop, and fish tires only, track maintenance is easy. Here's the TracTractor in action, it's a Parma inline chassis driven by a Strombecker Devastator through double gear reduction. A few laps dragging a damp microfiber towel picks up all dust and we're ready to go.

Part of the ever-growing stable of cars. 36D sidewinders cover the 76ft lap in 4.5 sec, Parma 4½" stockers do it in 3.7, X12 powered wings take about 2.85. Track record is 2.670 with a Gp20, but X12 is really the most power that is practical with these tires.

All lined up for a race, it does get rather interesting with these cars!  Track surface has acquired a good coat of rubber and traction is excellent.

Looks great. Nice variety of cars. Cool TracTracto,r too. Just needs a pick-up body. PM your address and I'll send you a NOS Parma painted body. Your choice of white, purple, blue, or black.

Merry Christmas.

I need to add a bedroom and am thinking of selling this track.  Any interest?

Gary,

I just stumbled across your track. What are you looking to get out of it?

She's real fine, my 409!!!
