I think you can find older Sears catalogs online.    I found that by searching for info about the Marx Tales of Wells Fargo train and playset..

Since this was published, I discussed it in length with Don and others, and it makes perfect sense that Monogram offered the AJ's tires (packed under blister over a small card, with the little gold sticker also found inside many other AJ's packaged tires) in the kit's box with the added sticker on the box top, for both the "SR" and "VSR" kits. Not too many were sold as this was rather late in a collapsing market, but it is good to see that some have survived.

What about Ford GT? I have a faint memory my pal got one with slicks. Brass chassis, wire drop arm.

If you mean the Ford GT Roadster kit by Monogram, there are no known example of a kit with "AJ's Silicone" sticker.  However, a large portion of loose cars found today from various companies no longer have their original tires, because most of the original tires in most kits did not work too well. This is why there were dozens of small companies manufacturing aftermarket tires, from foam compound to silicone. Hence it is highly likely that your pal bought a set of aftermarket slicks and bolted them on his car...
