HBBD, BW!

Since John was showing off your handiwork, by any chance do you have a pic of your ground effects retro car(banned!)? I figured it needed to be included in any compilation of your ingenuity.

   Richard,

I toyed around with the ground effects car off and on for a while but never really seriously as I knew that if I really got it to work I would be the leading advocate for having it banned as it just wasn't keeping with the spirit of retro.

The last one I played with ran pretty good on BPR's King track and weighed about 80 grams and seemed to be almost a raceable car but kind of touchy. I kind of gave up when I simply just added about 15 grams and taped off the bottom and went faster. The physics works even at these small scales as the downforce is amazing when you blow air under the car on a test block. Perhaps it was generating TOO MUCH downforce on the straights as the car seemed quicker when the bottom was taped up even with the extra weight.........and it often flew out for no reason in a turn when on the last lap it was planted in that particular turn. Perhaps too many variables with the underside airflow?

I think it's buried in a case here which is buried under boxes but if I ever dig it out I'll post some pics!
