Pete, BRING EM' Your cars always look "period correct"
One more for today. This is a tribute to the Monogram "big cars" I have a couple of these Phantoms in the works.
Starting with a 70's issue kit.
As I mentioned, I do something different on every build and for this I did not have any more big Monogram chassis at the time so I cobbled this up. Body attachment is hidden under the drivers seat.
I wanted to capture the feel of the period and go unpainted just as a youngster would have built it in 1965. The driver is from and old Tamiya kit. Hard to find guys without helmets. Can be built top up or down.
The wheels are the Monogram biggies that have been polished. I then cut down the fragile kit wheels to make inserts and hit them with an accent of Tamiya red clear.
This car is still in the feeling it out stage.
Not a slot car but I bought this partial build up to restore a slot car. It's molded in the original red color. Someone did a nice job starting it but the windshield frame was broken along with other damage. Anyway, I decided to finish it. I restored it including polishing, painting and some chrome foil. These kits were beautifully engineered. I have both tops but like the funky down type.
