Difalco controller upgrade

What's remarkable is Jim offers an upgrade that allows me to get the latest technology on the cheap while keeping a lot of my original unit. How cool is that!
Well done! Rather than designed obsolescence the Difalco upgrades integrate with the basics. All I had to do was email a photo to Jim of my original, so that he knew what I was starting with, and he mailed me the parts I needed. Great controller, great value, great service.

I have two of the 17 band kits that I built up on Parma Turbos from the 90s.
Was intimidated by the technology but everything went together and worked first time!
Very important to follow the directions with the kit, even though the b/w photos left something to be desired.
Got Dave Graboski's (DG Designs) handle wraps for each which made the old Parma handles look new! Custom designed to match my racing colors.

The basic upgraded board is right under $60 if I recall but it's best to use the link Larry posted or just call Jim.He'll be more than happy to talk you through it all.

Upgrading to a 30 band is probably the best you can do. You can do options like a mush button or a choke from there. But if you want better brakes too, you need to see if they sell an upgrade to a Genesis.

I just purchased a Difalco DD-275. Can someone help me with the wiring as Jim's instructions are not the best/unclear verbiage to me. I did call Difalco and I was criticized building from scratch rather than actually having a resistor installed? Gosh, very rude. I guess I broke some commandment? By the way Difalco rather hang up on people in addition than help a newbie so I came here. Anyways, I would appreciate the kindness I see here among others if someone would PM me or post here.
Thank you kindly.

Wiring, what goes where? I have a sketch that I would like to post to have looked at to be sure it's correct but don't see a way to upload a pic of it? I know where all the connections go on the Heatsink install part; So here it is in wording:
1. Black from PCB connects to black wire on one of the black Brake Rheostat wires and both of them connect to Red (OEM wire); this red line that goes to Heatsink.
2. Other Black from rheostat goes to Left side wiper contact. <No other line connects to this terminal/contact.
3. Purple/White from PCB connects to Heatsink.
4. Right wiper contact wire that is a Black wire (OEM wire), goes to Heatsink. <No other line connects to this terminal/contact.
5. White wire from wiper arm goes to Heatsink. <No other line connects to this terminal/contact as is insulated.
6. Black wire (insulated) from back of wiper arm goes to Heatsink. <No other line connects to this terminal/contact as is insulated.
Does this read correctly?
Thank you.

See if anyone at your track owns a version of the controller you are working on. Ask if they are willing to open it up so you can see what it is supposed to look like.

Here's an earlier thread regarding a Difalco/Parma upgrade.
http://slotblog.net/...-turbo-upgrade/
That thread is for a different module and although some of the wiring is the same, it's not exactly the same. Also The Purple/White is not even mentioned? In addition, some of the steps contradict the steps that came with the HD-30.

I agree he could have given you better instructions.
I'll try to post some pics for you.

The wiring is the same for all modules. I converted 10 band to 15 band as well as 15 band to 30 band. The purple and white wire goes to the transistor.
I agree he could have given you better instructions.
I'll try to post some pics for you.
THANK YOU!!!! Yes he could have given better instructions. I even asked him for a wiring schematic. His reply was "most people can't read or understand one?" Kind of insulting/lame response if you ask me. But none-the less I appreciate your help greatly.
