I just tried using #2 fuel oil treatment on some dried-up tires. Softened them up alright but the true test will be on the track. Even worked on some vintage red foam tires.

I don't know what the chemicals were, but several of the better brands were pretty potent in confined spaces. Kind of like glue-sniffing, perhaps. I never raced indoors that much.

It was kind of banned by ROAR in R/C because of the smell. Most races require you to use odorless tire traction.

Nah...not for cancer. Salicylate is toxic, or even fatal at relatively low doses. A little bit ...like a teaspoon (or something like that) has the same amount of salicylate as a few hundred aspirins.

Most of the banned substances only cause cancer in lab rats within California. So I think we're all OK. :laugh2:
