Smokey also built this 1968 Camaro that was one of three that was built in his Daytona Beach garage for the Trans-Am racing series. It had a few 'innovations.' There seem to be a number of details that I have never seen in a T/A car.
This particular small block Camaro was purchased by the late Vic Edelbrock who supposedly gave it to one of his daughters as a gift. Edelbrock was quoted as saying of this car: “The front suspension points were relocated and the subframe Z-cut and rewelded to allow for a lower floor pan. The entire body was acid-dipped, the hood and front fenders are reshaped and are wider and lower, and every surface under the body was made smooth and reshaped to reduce drag. The windshield was laid back and the drip rails pulled in flush with the body.”
