This is my take on the Fall Brawl 2017.
The Fall Brawl was a great event for Retro racers. I have just returned to my roots where I started in 1963. In fact I meet an old friend from New York City, Howie Ursaner, at this race, whom I raced against many a time at Cobra raceways and Roosevelt and Polk hobbies among other New York locations.
The race track is very well positioned to have this race. The SpeedZone race track has everything you need in the way of slot car equipment. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. Great staff, Mike.
Racing Retro at this event is great, but be advised you are going up against local talent and the best of the best in Retro. The rules are strictly adhered to, by no other than Noose, who is well suited for this duty. Everything you need to know is on the tech sheet for the class you plan to run. And while I am at it, everyone there was nice, I made new friends and there was a lot of help to go around if you needed it.
The schedule is adhered to and one must be on time for tech. The race director Brandon was outstanding; this is a thankless job, but a necessary one. Kudos to you, Boss, you are going to make a great judge one day!
While I was there I never experienced any yelling or loud talk towards marshals, track calls were fair as far as I was concerned, and I raced three classes: Coupes, Stock Car, and F1.
I am looking forward to returning in 2018 to this event. If you are a Retro racer, this is a must-go-to event in my opinion.
