She had to go to her back-up car but danged if she didn't win the kid's heat and then beat the men in the Main.
Cassie is going to be a good slot racer.

On the rare occasion when a lady is observing at Downriver Speedway I usually mention to her that slot car racing is the last bastion of total male dominance as no women seem to want to race. Yet, I don't see any reason why the ladies could not have just as much fun and advocate a ladies night out program. If I ran the race track...

Not 100% true, Nelson, as I know and have known a few female racers.
But it's practically true...

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

I remember the track owner telling the story of two high school girls who wandered in and wanted to rent cars and time.
He was amused at the number of guys who showed up and wanted to buy track time.
It was truly amazing how long the 15 minutes the girls bought lasted. The owner said he was disappointed the girls didn't come back.
Perhaps tracks should have a "half price Lady's night," though I'm not sure where you would advertise to attract attendance.

In Manchester, we used to have the local woman's semi-pro football team come into Need for Speed and take over two of the tracks.
This was a weekend annual event for four or five years until the team folded.

Men used to say that about ladies on sporting clays ranges, now the same ladies are smoking them.
This hobby needs a huge injection from gals and kids; there is a lack of both which spells doom for the hobby. Track owners need to find ways to bring them is... the parents will follow.
Take it from a guy who believed Vacation Bible School was not a way to get adults involved in local churches... wrong.
