We have run into a stumbling block at our local track. Now that school has started we can no longer feasibly run kids races during the week due to dates with 1. Homework, atheletics, Church on Wed etc so we have come down to Sat. NOW, the track owner does not want the kids in there because they run off the old guys who come to play with theyre cars, these are adults who can come any night of the week because well, they are adults. I suggested kids race at 3 pm sat so if they have chores( yes we still do chores in our small town) atheletics or hunt with theyre dads( yes we still hunt here in The Country) they will have time to come and race. BUT some of the older guys who come on Sat wont stay and marshall for the kids?????? these are adults. So what do ya do? I strongly feel if the track owner does not recruit kids the momentum he has picked up with kids racing will die and fad away. Suggestions?

Kids races have always worked well on Friday nights. This becomes a reward for doing well in school and doesn't interfere with other weekend family plans. Also they don't have to get to bed as early. Try it!!

When we had a commercial raceway in Manchester from 1996-2010, Friday evenings was always kids' race night. Attendance was always good.

The kids playing football are older than the ones you will get for the kids races. And the football players are not racing slot cars!!

Mike, remind me not to waste time responding to people who ask questions, then argue with the answers they get. :laugh2:

No but theyre big brothers do and in the age of single parent familys( a tragedy in its own right) there is no way parent can be two places at once. We will try and fit the racing in sat afternoons after the GEEKS get thru playing with theyre cars and can be talked into marshaling for the kids.

I would feel that the best night for kids racing would vary by location- is it possible to poll the potential racers?

That's thirty minutes away. I'll be there in ten.

Hmm.. best day?

Monday at noon - lots of kids don't want to go to school on Monday (or play football). :good:

It's the reward for delivering those heavy Sunday papers with all the 'inserts'. :heat:

Get a good used  'short bus' and go around picking them up like it's 'day camp'.  :)

Serve cookies and milk..... and pizza.

No peanut butter!

Uniforms might work - then they can 'suit up'. :dance3:

Or ... just ask the kids parent(s) "when's good"

Great idea Bob, so I can put you down for the bus driver right? I think what I will do is this, lay it at the track owners feet. Its his track so if he wants to keep the kids racing ( spending money on tires, chasssis, bodies ) I will let him call the parents and get it together.
