Sadly, I miss the old drag strips. Damn shame.

I started out as a drag racer. That was the environment I came from. All my friends were drag racers. I had two older cousins in this area who were drag racers, and one one the west coast who was also a drag racer.
When we couldn't get gas good enough for our high compression engines, I changed to sports cars. I was the first of the people I knew
to do so. And soon I was the only one with a car that could be driven.
As other people made the change from big motors, drag racing began to wane, and the dragstrips closed. Too bad Meadowdale and Wilmot closed earlier, they might have attracted more business after the strips closed down and been able to stay open.

Here is a track that I spent a lot of time at. .Flemington Speedway in Flemington New Jersey. It was a 5/8 mile dirt track later paved. They ran big and small block modifieds, NASCAR modifieds, Spring cars, TQ midgets, super modifieds, NASCAR trucks, Motorcycles and go karts. They had it all. It was one of the oldest speedways in the country until it's demise. It hosted the Hunterdon County Fair each August. What a great place.
