Jim,

You and I had a few meetings I believe in some amateur mains back in the late 60's. Fun times, still are. Ahh, those older races and characters!

You bet! That's one of the major attractions of retro. Old guys, old times, fun times.

Jim,
Do any pictures exist of the Bill Caudle stamped chassis?

I wish, but none that I know of. At one point way back then, I had a set of blueprints that I worked on during the development process but have not seen them for near on 45 years.

It's possible that there were pics of the cars from the AM race but I only finished fourth so unless a pic was published as a curiosity, I doubt that any notice was taken.

Here's a couple of my cars from '65 that I recently restored. The wheels and guide flags are not original, but I did use Cox

wheels on the 1/24th car similar to those now on it. The 1/32nd car had Milli-Miglia wheels on it. Both had guide arms

made from piano wire soldered to the frame wires, and set up so they acted as springs. I was the only one to do this,

and it worked OK, but most other racers used a sprung drop arm. I believe they are similar to cars that were at Western

States.

I want to put a proposal out there for Joe De Halle who won the big race in San Fransico as shown above in post #19. it was a huge race with multi-day eliminations that resulted in a win for the Arizona racer. I know there is opposition by some to add his name to the list of Western States Winners but he was in fact the first WS winner.

Does anybody remember a big race in York PA in 1967? There were over 90 entrants.

I remember the Rojo Grande (Big Red) chassis, it did remind me of a flexi, it may have been the inspiration for the Flexi. Some of the az guys raced flexis on Jack's Orange track for kicks, If I recall Neil Kuhns put a G20 in one. I remember seeing an ad in the slot paper about this chassis so there may be a photo out there.
