I have a large plastic Plano Phantom Pro fishing tackle box that I purchased about 15 years ago.

https://thumbs.worth...a28733e6d81.jpg

I removed several of the dividers using a cut-off disk on my Dremel.

It is large and carries all my cars (chassis), rubber, and tools etc.

I use a lighter and smaller plastic tackle box to carry my hand controllers and bodies.

Am I alone in not liking wooden boxes?  :(

No.. Wood boxes are too damn heavy. After I saw a Cleve box at the worlds I've wanted one. Real hard to come by it seems.

Sawdust Man made me a beautiful box.
He has other box configurations.

Lime green with red drawer fronts
The lime green and red is Formica, lot of storage and can hold a lot of cars.
Drawers and door pockets have generous storage.
The hardware is heavy duty.

Did you get your new box like what you have in the picture? What type of slides do you need for it?

Time to eat humble pie.  :)

I am about to invest in a DeWalt table saw and I want to try my hand at building a wooden slot car box.

Does anyone have any recent plans or photographs of their latest creations?

Ron,

I'm not sure of what type of car and equipment you are planning to transport and race but there were some interesting ideas in the "R4/11 Box Tour" thread.

Ron, make yourself a cut-off sled for the saw before you attempt a box. You'll get more accurate and square cuts when using a sled than you will using a saw's factory accessories. YouTube has dozens of "how-to" videos on sled making. I'd also recommend you get a carbide-tipped combination blade for your saw, unless you want to always be blade changing.

Check out the pics from any of the ISRA races. They have some very creative ideas along with the James Cleve travel box.  Also in the BSCRA magazine.

This guy makes a nice box. You can glean some designs from his offerings.
