Retro Stock Cars on the American Royal – 12/19/17
In a warm-up for the January NERR race at MVH, Stock Cars were run on the American Model Raceways Royal this week. With Christmas right around the corner the size of the field wasn’t what it was the last time Stock Cars took to the Royal as only 7 racers presented their cars at tech. The race was run in the 4/4 format.
Like the previous week, Ricky Pratt dominated the race, taking the win by 13 laps over second place finisher Bob “Woody” Hazelwood. Bobby Blanchette claimed the bottom step on the podium, three-plus laps behind Woody. Rich Girvin led the rest of the field in 4th place, finishing two laps off the podium but 14 laps in front 5th place finisher Richard Payne. Thrailing Richard by 3 laps, Jake Uhlman took 6th place while Dick Griffin finished out the field 12 laps off the pace.
Ricky’s 4.230 fast lap was more than 2/10ths faster than Bobby’s 4.450 and was over 3/10ths better than Woody’s 4.558 best lap time. The rest of the field posted best lap times in the 4.6s and 4.7s.
