Yeah.... I shouldn't be left alone unsupervised.
Crazy ideas come up and, well.... this is the result.

The premis for this build was what could I build/assemble that would look like stuff purchased off the hobby shop wall in late 1968.  To that end, I started with some NOS Riggen wheels, a bagged but not tagged chassis.  (Totally unmodified by me)
NOS McLaren body with some sort of interior which I probably should NOT have used........
Plus a neat replica Cukras motor.
I say replica, because I built it myself using a Mura "A" can mated to a Tradeship endbell.  But... it does have a real Cukras sticker on it! (Gift from John)
The arm is a tied and balanced Mura item with Mura magnets.  Can I painted a mixed pink color to match the original second series Cukras motors.
Flower power sticker by Neckcheese!  (Beautiful those)

The Truescale body is painted as closely to what Dave Bloom would have done back then.
No idea what that interior is, but I wanted a real roll bar and real Russkit drivers head.
Love the look, but it required a soldering iron wrapped with teflon tape and a teflon frying pan to make room for the chassis!

I have no idea who made the chassis.  RehCo?  Tradeship?
I don't know, but it was bagged and the tarnish is totally natural.
Was very tempted to clean up some of the joints, but the theme here is "off the rack" so I left it alone.

Guide is Cox and came out of the bag same as the Cobra gear, rear bagged wheels and fronts.  Axles are of course new.

Here is a clear view of the chassis.
Looks like it could have been hanging on the rack as late as 1971 even though the narrow guide tongue shouts late 1968.  Which is why I plugged in a Mura "A" motor.
So this could have been assembled anywhere between 1969 to 1971.  Wouldn't have been very competitive but she's still pretty.
Sometimes I just have to enjoy the "arm candy" and ignore the race horse. ;-)

Feel free to sound off on the maker of the chassis.

But I think it's a perfect compliment to my other Cukras powered anglewinder from early 1968.
(Also sporting a replica Cukras/Mura motor with an untied but balanced arm in a two hole "A" motor.)

Happy New Year slotters!  B:)

Jairus, I don't pretend to know much about chassis from that era but I've been to REH hundreds of times and that doesn't look like any chassis I've ever seen there. But that doesn't mean it isn't a REHco.

A little like Cobra/PhazeIII which was my first car - with a pink Mura.

The M6 has always been one of my favorite bodies, This one with its wide white stripe & black fogging looks like it came out of 1969-70. Nice job! I've never been to REHCO, like Pappy has, but this chassis doesn't look like any of the REHCO work I've ever seen or seen advertised. Plus its workmanship is superior to a production chassis. I think it's someone's scratchbuilt chassis. Pekka mentioned Cobra/Phaze III, but that motor mounting plate is neither company's bracket.

Your painting is amazing... well your chassis building skills are not bad also... LOL.. I'm trying to decide on a quiet compressor and , in another thread, have gotten some good ideas so I can work on my airbrushing skills... Love looking at your bodies to try and understand just how you got all the wonderful colors and blends airbrushed..

Bill, I agree on the quality.  However I have seen some pretty well done production chassis simply because whoever soldered it together knew what they were doing.  When you do a step over and over, you tend to get good at it.
What makes me think it's a production piece is the drop arm down stop.  No solder apparent.
Almost like it was welded to a hole in the tongue.
That and the fact that it came in a bag.
Also the strange pan up and down stops totally not following convention of the period.
Phase III makes the most sense to me now.

Love this period. Nicely done.

Kind of reminds me of the Dynamic brass and pre-bent wire kits that were sold 68 ish. I will check for mine if someone does not beat me to it.
