Just watched live the launch of Elon Musk's BFR. It was amazing!!! Perfect launch, then the two detached booster rockets returned to Earth and landed vertically. :shok: WOW!!!

Onboard is Elon's personal Tesla. It will go into orbit around the sun. Since there is no commercial purpose of this mission, I consider it one BIG toy rocket.

The dual landing looked like something out of Star Wars!

Guess he now has the fastest car not on Earth. LOL.

All the car horns going off from the sonic boom when this landing took place was funny.

Thought you were referring to the recent launch of Spacelabs latest rocket from Mahia Peninsula here in NZ.

Yep, we have joined the space race.

Space Lab successfully launched a payload of three satellites into orbit one of which is the "Humanity Star" which should be visible to northern hemishpere viewers.

They are aiming for a launch every two weeks... sounds a bit of a high target but the rockets are smaller and cheaper.

Now we have individuals who have the ability to have rockets launched.

Makes you wonder where the technology for that rocket launch came from plus was it taxpayer funded research that aided the launch because I'm quite sure it wasn't a youtube video that enabled that launch and what happens if this technology gets hacked and into the wrong hands? Musk may have ties to NASA but he is getting way to much information as far as I'm concerned and there are some things that need to be guarded.

The landing is just as disturbing as the launch, if that rocket went off course and crashed into a major city who would have been held accountable and the publicity stunt with the car shows a out of control ego that needs to monitored very closely.

Scary times folks...very scary.

Actually, it's headed for a slingshot around Mars is what I read.  There and back will take 6 months.

It was a solid test of the systems and therefore, not a toy.
I believe there will be a line up to his office after this.

It will be interesting to see who's story on where the Tesla is going is true. I've seen several versions on TV and the "Tube".

The most believable to me is that it is in permanent earth orbit, with the stereo blaring "Space Oddity" by David Bowie.

So who is going to hear it? If a tree falls in the forest........

On the display ones, in the front of the dealership across the street from me, they leave the headlights on overnight.

I don't think they are plugged in, but I'll check some evening, when I leave.

Maybe there is a solar array to charge the batteries. I haven't seen a picture of the entire car in orbit. Anyway, I wonder

how long the disc player can run before wearing out.

That's one way to get rid of an electric car battery without putting it in a land fill.

The Government has quite a number of research documentation concerning Thorium nuclear reactors from the 1950's and 60's..This is totally different technology than is presently used...The U.S. granted complete access the to Chinese just recently while we sit on it
