I'm going to post the race results screenshots all by themselves in this thread, rather than spread them out in the race report thread. All in one place...

Friday is GT Coupe day, with the class being divided into the 'Pros,' i.e. those racers who have won a GTC race at an IRRA® Premier race and into the 'Ams', those who haven't.

A total of 46 entries for both the Pro and Am classes. Both GTC Pro and GTC Am qualified before the actual racing started. Pro qualified first and then Am qualified, but Am will race before Pro.

Jason Dennis was top qualifier in GTC. The computer screwed up.

Since I am posting remotely I had no way of knowing this. I will correct this once I get back to the raceway and get a time for him, if possible.

Thanks, Bill.

This places Gil Pataky on 'The List,' meaning in the future he may only compete in GTC Pro at IRRA® Premier events.

Gil has the option to compete in GTC Pro at the R4/11 and I understand he has elected to do so.

Here's the combined GT Coupe 'Am' results, based on lap totals.

gtc.am.comb.bot.jpg

Top qualifier was Jason Dennis, but some computer glitch caused him not to be shown as that in the system. Once I get back to the raceway, I will confirm his TQ time.

Winner of the GTC 'Am' Concours was Earl Graybill.

Regarding the anomaly in GT Coupe 'Am' qualifying, the problem seems to have resulted because Jason Dennis only made a lap and a half during his qualifying run, i.e. just a single full lap. The LapMaster system did log his 4.644 sec lap in the TQ file, but did not enter it into the qualifying results file. Whether this is the exact reason for the problem is not completely certain at this time, but is the best guess at present.

In any case, it is acknowledged that Jason Dennis was top qualifier on the GTC-FK 'Am' side with that 4.644 sec lap.

And here's a very interesting screen from the LapMaster system that shows what it terms the actual vs. potential lap time percentages. This chart is for the combined GT Coupe Pro class.

This chart considers how close a racer comes to a perfect heat or lane, basing the calculation on the fastest lap of each heat. If a racer could run an entire heat with each lap the same as his fastest lap in that lane, that would represent 100% 'efficiency.' Since no one seemingly has even done such a perfect heat, the numbers in the chart below represent how closely the racer came to that ideal. It's pretty amazing that some racers are able to drive at 99% or more of the ideal heat, where every lap is close to as fast as the fastest lap they were able to turn on that lane.

Check out Steve Koepp's purple lane number: 99.9%!!!

Also note that the winner, Will Custer, was nowhere near the top in terms of the actual vs. percentage numbers. Which just proves that a fast car doesn't have to be driven as hard to take the top spot.

I disagree, Cheater. It means you can fall off more and still win. Will Custer had seven of the eight fastest lanes. When you have the fastest car, it allows you to make a mistake or two and still win. Why Willy is one of the best is he can consistently hit a fast lap every time. His lap after lap times are incredible.

What it proves is that Willy has no weaknesses, He drives every lane from red to black hard and fast.

Congrats to Willy, Cap, and Will.

You could of almost predicted that finish, before qualifying.

As far as Steve's 99.9% effeciency, considering he had a best time of only 5.01 on Purple, 13th fastest, out of 17th, it doesn't seem as impressive.

My guess is Steve, a super-nice guy, figured it wasn't his day, and cruised that heat, wanting to stay out of the player's ways.

Someone can ask him, and if he says he ran the car 100% every lap, I apologize in advance.

While I heard from Greg, the PM motor was not exactly a huge hit, Willy running 3 more laps than last year's winning total, and Gil, 1 more lap, the motors couldn't of been total duds.

There were a total of 51 entries for today's Retro Can-Am class. There is no division between Am and Pro in Can-Am; all racers qualify and race together.
