What is the final thickness of the diamond, Dave? I may have a drum made like the one above to finish the sides.

I had my drum done with 100 grit diamonds and it looks and works great. I do mostly silicone tires which are hard to do and I would recommend David's diamond drum service to everyone.

I've been using my diamond drum on silicone tires. I lubricate the tires with drops of Mean Green periodically and clean the drum with a chunk of a belt sander belt cleaning pad (It's like a big eraser) while it's still running.
It still takes a lot of time to do a set of silicone tires but this method is working real good.

I hosted a 1/32 event amount a month ago, and while I had heard truing silicones was a long process, I was still surprised when one of front runners, Denny Moscatelli, revealed it took him eight hours to get them how he liked them.

My big grinder made a silcone tire shine after about 10 min. 8" 80 grit 1650 rpm/1000 rpm tire speed. This machine runs at 3458 surface feet min on abrasive + 262 surface feet min on tire = 3720 surface feet min.
a Hudy machine running at 4.5 volts, abrasive drum covers 780 surface feet min and 240 surface feet min for the tire = 1020 surface feet min.
Turning the voltage up on the Hudy increases surface feet but also causes large temperature increases due to the low mass of the drum.
My very short test makes me think a combination of low temperature grinding surfaces and high surface speed helps to expedite this process.

my problem is that CBD/Slot.It 32nd wheels (which use a slightly larger than 3/32 axle) are a loose fit on the Hudy machine's 3/32 one. as a result, when one is tightened down it is offset against the drum, and ends up out of round when installed back on the car.
if I could solve that issue, I'd be all over a new diamond drum.

Speedy,
We use a lot of 2mm axles in the euro classes and there must be a lot of 2mm shafts for the Hudy around.
I know i have seen some 2mm to 3/32 adaptors - they are easily made on a hobby lathe.
If you really want to use your Hudy, you could have 2mm to just over 3/32 adaptor made.
Or have one ground from a 3mm drill blank. I think the Hudy uses a 3mm ?????

You could pickup a 1/8 hudy shaft and grind it down. I think Alpha can provide this service.

As demonstrated in this some Hudy axles not straight video, you can check the straightness of a truer's axle by turning the tire 180 degrees after you've trued it.
After I made the video, Hudy probably weeded all of the bad axles out of their inventory because about a month after I brought the problem to their attention, they had an axle sent to me and it's straight.
