Ive seen anglewinders with these tiny train motors but have no clue where to get them and whether they can be modified, rewound etc.

al thurman has built cars with these motors, just look in the HO blog.i think they fit into the unlimited class, the specks say 6 volts are needed, and at 43,000 rpm 1/24 th scale G7 must be 200,000rpm if not more, because in the 70s G7 they said were at 100,000 to 150,000. rpm if i recall correctly,on 12 volts.

A quick count of G7 qualifying lap 1.28 sec with 20 mm tires and 9/38 gears gives about 148,000 rpm so on the main straight 200,000+ is supposed, but 16 volts.

so would slotcars run faster if the technology of my dental drill be used, air turbine.
so if we could find a way to store in a small space a compressed air source onboard, and through air, drive an air turbine motor ,which drive gears or some direct drive,or only air drive a car like a jet engine air being the propellent.
hey if they were able to make a 1/1 car run on compressed air who knows.

Better versions come with neo mags possibly and a different wind.

Slotcars are already fast enough.

Dental drills don't have a lot of torque, so no. Besides controlling compressed air is a fairly complicated deal compared with the controllers we now use.

I went to the HO Nats at Lucky Bob's a number of years ago and got to witness an unlimited race for the first time. They set a record of something like 44 actual miles per hour average for the duration of the race - it could have been 48, I don't remember.
While spectating, I tried to draw my focus to just one car and couldn't tell what color it was! I sure couldn't follow it around for a lap.
Joel Pennington set his car up with a flashing LED on top of it. It may have helped him track HIS car but I think it was a big annoyance for the other drivers during passing events and I think it was outlawed for future races.
There is a novelty and a fascination for extreme machines with virtually no rules (Unlimited) but I agree with Mike Swiss and can say that they are definitely too fast!
Keep it in the slot (and for Unlimited HO cars, don't be standing in the close row when they don't!),

Sorry about the nerf. "Sorry? Sorry? There's no apologizing in slot car racing!"
Besides, where would I even begin? I should probably start with my wife ...
"I don't often get very many "fast laps" but I very often get many laps quickly." ™
The only thing I know about slot cars is if I had a good time when I leave the building! I can count the times I didn't on one two three hands!

AJmaybe a breakout unlimited class would make more sense, cars going to fast to actually see almost serves no purpose, whats the fun of seeing a race you cant see, lol.
