Phil, I think you ought to buy one for mentioning on here. 8W isn't going to give you much tip temperature recovery.  :laugh2:  :laugh2:

I already have a 10w iron for small stuff but it gets the full-pull 120v. No way it could slot car work.... oh... maybe attaching leadwires....

years ago, i used a 200w 5/8 tip soldering iron to repair radiators and heater cores. when i began slot racing, i would bring that iron with me, its all i had to use. other racers and the shop owner wouldnt let me plug it in. they said it drew power away from the track.
