This thread is for the purpose of showcasing the entries for the SHINODA Reunion Event as mentioned in Race Announcements.

I enter as a tribute to the work and legacy of this incredible and genius artist of the automotive persuasion...Larry Shinoda!

My entry this event is intended to make a POINT in the Period Correct class.

My turn, Shinoda Point, Dyna-Rewind 16-D, gusset chassis, rear hinge drop arm.

I always say when you go racing, go prepared with some backups 

 

Build them low with Detroit iron in mind, and with science, persistent racers. A extreme controller is a must, I always use the 1966,  R4 controller. If the exposed controller resistor gets smoking hot your motor has problems.

 

If your going to race period correct cars use a period correct controller, test your true racing skills. I get to race once a year, no tracks close by.

Hi Guys was hoping to send my Shinoda Gp & possibly a Shinoda Mongoose in for the reunion (if funds allow).

I also have The Pink Panther Mongoose from Tom Scotts collection & was also thinking about sending that in just for display as it's on a Champion anglewinder chassis.

Since there are curious minds, let's now look "under the hood" so to speak of my entry.

Built at GenesWorld using back-n-the-day "science" by the Master Craftsman himself Gene Adams.

After coming in last, last year, I need a change of equipment to enter the "Period Correct" class this year.

Hence the Iso-Rear-Pinned Chassis!

Hmmm, I wasn't sure I would have time to enter this year, but that last chassis of yours Jairus, reminds me that I found a Detroit Slider type chassis with a 26D that wails (if it survives), so maybe I could put that together for this year... 

 

I think I even picked out a body for it already....

Oh , I got it, a Ford “Lincoln”,

"M-m-m-my Shinoda"  coming right along.

 

A few more details on the chassis and then on to painting.

 

The chassis started life as a drag chassis. I made a few blanks about 28 years ago and never got around to finishing them all.

This one was modified to let the guide flag move freely for a road course.
