The Interstate Home Slot Racing (IHSR) club kicks off its next season on October 6 at a member's home in Darnestown, MD. Active since 1995, IHSR races 1/32 scale cars on members home tracks throughout the Mid Atlantic Region.
You'll not find a better bunch of guys with whom to race. We take it just seriously enough for good fender banging racing, but not so serious that, well, people are too serious. This isn't a race series in the sense of points/championship. Each race day is a unique event, where guys race hard, but by the time everyone is riding home, nobody remembers who 'won' anything, we just remember having a great time.
You'll also not find a club with the variety, number, and quality of tracks we are fortunate to have. All but one venue are 3 or 4 lane mdf routed tracks. This season a nice plastic track venue is being reintroduced. Should be fun.
For guys interested by who don't have class legal cars, no need to make a big investment up front or build cars. We always have loaners available.
Because we are so spread out, weeknight racing doesn't work for us. So all of our events are race days on weekends, almost always Saturdays. Typical race day starts with host opening his home 8 to 9 am or so. Practice and bench racing until 10 am. Then we run the first of 4 classes. After running two classes, we break for a pizza lunch and more bench racing, then finish up the last two classes, with everyone on their way home between 3 and 4 pm. Those interested, and at the discretion of the host, might participate in a 5th race in IROC format.
