The 8th Annual D3 Hardbody Nats was a "barn burner" as 4 races saw new total lap records set and the 5th race tying the current record.

Hector "Gonzo" Gonzalez had an unbelievable Nats as he won 3 of 4 races he entered. He set new total lap records for three racing classes (3 C's, NASCAR, 40's-50's Stock Cars). Mill Conroy drove one of Gonzo's DTM cars and set a new total lap record in winning the DTM/GTR/GT3/Super GT race. Marco Carvalho tied the existing total lap record as he won the GTP/Mid-Engine race. All in all, the fastest ever D3 Hardbody Nats we've had in 8 years.

Gonzo's record setting cars were all Pan style chassis with "articulating" front and rear sections. His "inline" low rider '51 Chevy was unbelievably fast as he drove past many sidewinder powered competitors during the "Mixed" race. This was the first time we've had a "Mixed" race and it was a lot of fun racing many different classes together.

I'm producing a video which will show how Gonzo builds his pan style chassis with articulating front/rear sections. This video will be available late this year or early next year, stay tuned. The video will also include many photos/slide shows of various hardbody chassis builds for different racing classes.

Thanks to Debby and Jim Watterson (also Eddie and Chris) for their support of D3 Hardbody Racing at Buena Park Raceway.
Thanks to Mike Steube, Keith Tanaka for model kit raffle prizes. Thanks to Ken Dylke for original Hardbody Racing T-Shirts for podium finishers.

The Nats race report includes photos of the winning cars as well as a video and Slo Mo video clips.

The "Second Chance" Enduro for DTM/GTR/GT3/Super GT cars is Sunday, November 18, 2018 (regular 3rd Sunday in Nov.).

Gonzo's chassis design is now THE proven fastest overall design.  Some cars went as quick as his for a lap--but those babies are EZ to drive and work exceptionally well.  And it's a VERY interesting complete design departure from traditional builds.  Marco has an interesting front end design--but those independent motor and front end "pods" of Gonzo's seem to be really AWSOME!! Congratulations to him for working on this design and perfecting it over several years--and THIS year especially, he PROVED it works GREAT!!

She's real fine, my 409!!!
