Obviously one of the all-time greats, and IMO, raced the best looking Stockcar of all time;

David Pearson, the "Silver Fox", was one of my favorite NASCAR drivers. I got to actually see him race in 1968 when he drove for Holman-Moody. That night, at Oxford Plains Speedway, Oxford, ME, he qualified second to Buddy Baker's Dodge and finished second to Richard Petty's Road Runner. Those were the days of gumball tires and smaller displacement engines on short tracks.

He will be missed.

Never forget that first place goes to the racer with the MOST laps, not the racer with the FASTEST lap

Damn!! He will indeed be missed. We are losing our drivers/racers that made motor sports what is was that made it so great.

Getting old, as they say, is a bitch. Dang, another gone.

Oh dear   :(... What a shame . :( RIP.

Even "Down-Under" as a child/teenager I was well aware of David Pearson due to 'devouring' the many auto/racing magazines available from the US and the Daytona 500 was often televised as was Indy back in the day!!... Amazingly!!! No FOX or pay-per-view then... LOL.

I thought this piece in "MotorSport" was nice... although perhaps amazed that it was back in 1998!!

The "Silver Fox" will be remembered as one of the few drivers feared by the late Dale Earnhardt. High praise indeed.

My two ALL TIME FAVORITES in NASCAR:

1. The Woods Brothers and the Mercurys they built and

2. DAVID PEARSON

I saw a post from the Darlington Raceway:

"The lady in black will always love you." THE MOST PERFECT tribute to ever be written about this gentleman!!!
