Can-Am only and you can’t race in the regular Can-Am race. Hand-out motors. I’m in.

Tony, do you have any idea how many of us would get lost just trying to find the raceway.
We could all drive in in our golf carts and it would look like Sun City, Arizona or Sanford, FL.

There are a non-trivial number of older guys here racing... Doc, Rowdy, Rick Sr, Lester, Boogie, Bud, Jay...
Boogie Man says, "Put on your big-boy pants and come race with us!" LOL...

I managed to stay out of everybody's way in the Semi and finished 12th overall. Then, to top all this racing stuff off, several of us had dinner at the Beer Barrel. If you ever visit Columbus, check out this place.
I want to thank Mike and Eric for the great race directing the two put in today. This entire operation is very well run at the R4 and takes a lot of coordination of about six people to keep things running smoothly.

Today top things off great. Finished 12th overall in F1. I had a killer motor and my TonyP chassis handled great, but I could not get the max out of my driving. I made the top 16 so I moved on to the semis. After my semi, Jay asked for my motor. I pulled it and he ran the motor in his semi and he finished 4th to move up to the championship race. The motor was still smoking fast and he gave it a great drive to finish 5th.
Once again I want to thank everybody who worked so hard to make the R4 an happening. I hope to come back next year. Thank you to everyone. Mike, Cindi, Jessica, Eric, Bill. And I am probably missing a couple people who should get special recognition.

Congrats on a very successful trip. It takes an incredible effort to do what you did with that long drive and that hard racing.
Super impressive.

And thanks to everyone for the compliments. It was a personal endurance test for me, and I am glad that I was up to the challenge since my heart surgery.

I still think there should be one geezers class at the big races. Over 65. Might make some older guys come out to race.
I agree we should have a class for those of us born on or before 1950.

Geezer class??? Been there and done that!!
The R4/10 had a Senior Can-Am and a Senior F1 class. Must be 60 or over and couldn't run in the regular class if you ran Senior. I had high hopes for the idea. But I took enough grief over it I dropped it after that one try.
Turns out most wanted it to be a "Nobody faster then me" class. I might try it again. But some tweaking will be needed.

I don't want talk about a geezer class to diminish from this years R4. The format of the R4 is awesome, no complaints. Us old guys just need to be content with the way we perform against each other.

Monday was a recoup day for me, having gotten through six days at the race track. Pretty much just lounge around my hotel room in Canton, OH. On Tuesday I was able to hook up with my sister Rose, sister-in-law Donna, and three first cousins, Gene, Paul and Bryan. We had a great lunch and talked about times gone-by. Then in the evening, I was able to visit my step son and his two boys. The three-year old loves dinosaurs and jumping on grandpa, while the one-year old still wants to chew everything.
Now it is Wednesday morning; time to think about packing up and heading out. I should be able to leave around 10 to 11 AM and head south down I-77. I will probably stop for a hotel between Charlotte and Columbia. I am not going to play road warrior this trip, as Greg described my drive up here. And be back home some time Thursday afternoon.

Even though I contributed to the thread drift I agree.
Doc commented to me when he arrived that he had set some goals that he hoped to achieve. IMO in every possible way he met and exceeded them. Doc wasn't a "geezer" at the R4/12... he was a contender all week long.
Awesome job, Doc. Looking forward to seeing you again.
