Swap the 9T Parma pinion for something decent, slather it in acid, put the whole works in the oven, and after a cleanup it could be sweet  :laugh2:

It must have been built using stick solder. With all that extra solder weight, why does it need that hunk of lead over the guide? :laugh2:  :laugh2:

The starred red, white, & blue Harvey Alm. Spl. body didn't look too bad. :good:

A beginner that obviously knows nothing about soldering, and is obviously using an under powered soldering iron, is mercilessly ridiculed by the very people that should be trying to mentor him. Make his wings strong, throw him up in the air, and watch with pride as he  spreads his wings and soars away in glorious splendor!or, or some crazy #$%^ l\Ike that,

I think what we're looking at here is someone's attempt to rebuild or strengthen a good chassis. The basic chassis is a sound design & all its parts fit well. I think the only things not touched up (torched?) on the chassis are the front wheel retainers. Those appear to be soldered on well. When you look at the bottom side photos of this chassis, it doesn't appear all gobbed up like the top.

The inboard rear axle bearings could be moved outboard.

In the early '80s I walked into a slot car track for the first time since the '60s. I bought a Parma ready-to-run Int. 15. That car quickly fell apart because of poor soldering. I had to re-assemble the whole thing with silver solder. I bought the Unger that everyone used at the time, but still struggled soldering the brass parts. I had the right solder, the right iron and experience soldering, but not on big chunks of brass. So I assumed I was doing something wrong. It took me a while to figure out that didn't have a hot enough soldering iron.

The guy in the OP obviously knows little about soldering.Given the difficult soldering job he was trying to perform as a beginner, we need to cut him some slack.

Phil, this chassis isn't being sold by it's builder. It's being sold by someone with an eBay store who knows little about what he's selling. This morning,he had 790 items for sale on eBay, not many of them slot car related. Would you pay $30 for this chassis? I wouldn't, but go ahead if you want. I doubt this eBay seller even knows what Slotblog is, he deserves no slack here. It's just a few of us having a little fun. This isn't the first time eBay item's workmanship has been criticized here, nor will it be the last. :laugh2:

Phil, I found this one by searching on "brass chassis slot cars". It'll bring up HO & 1/32 scale too, but you could add "1/24" to the search to eliminate them.
