Scale racers, go to the paragraph starting with "I just talked to Debbie."

We have decided to drop the Phoenix Ltd race due to a lack of participation. So the schedule will be as follows.

1.    Phoenix Open

2.    One Motor Box

Raceway opens at 8 AM, practice ends 10 AM and we will take signups for the Phoenix class.

I just sent Debbie an update on the rules for the wing cars. Her web site shows rules years out of date

I just talked to Debbie and what we want to look at is after the wing racing is done, run two races on the flat track. Isra Production and Expert GTP are the two classes we are thinking about. We talked about starting them in January. If you want to be involved in this, let either Debbie or I know or better yet, show up with a car and start practicing. Neither of us knows a lot about the rules for these classes so don’t be afraid to post here or call Debbie or me.

As I understand it:

Production: Flexi with G12 and Gugu’s body

Expert GTP: A wire EDM/laser cut chassis with a stepped wing body like we run Thursday. I think this is also a G12 motor. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I guess I'm out of the Loop on EXP GTP in USRA we run a S16 but I guess you could sub a G12 ( then you would be running the same car and 2 different Bodies How about GT12 with GTP bodies) motor in it with a GTP body and Flexi Chassis Rules and on the USRA website www.usraslotsofficial.com

I told you I don't know about these types of cars, but yes, I looked at the PCH website and it is GT12 I was thinking about.

I don't want to recreate the world here, I just want to figure out the bst way forward. Is the GT12 the big wing bodies (OS Bentlee) or the step wing bodies like we race on Thursday?

As I understand it, that would be two G12 motor scale classes. Correct?

Along with the wing car OMB, maybe we could get some crossover entries.

Been waiting to race some scale classes with real motors. Production is a good place to start G12 motor and a flexi chassis. GT-12 is the other class you described G12 motor, steel chassis with either a high downforce or stepped wing body depending on if you would rather race amateur or expert rules. I'm in. Thanks, Rick

If you use the what we will call the in 2020 Banked Track rules starting this year no more AM and EXP in GT12 anymore  Then you would run a GTP body and GT12 car under it

jason

Rick

GT12 Flat Track is the LMP Body

Bill you realize that with the High down force body you may get these cars under 3 sec.

GT12 are stamped steal Euro style chassis.  Their a LOT of fun and handle great! They are run with the LMP style bodies-- Acura / Audi etc. I beleive.

The Production class uses the SAME motors--so that would be economical-- and flexi chassis with the Red Fox bodies.

Rick Linn or Sam can show you the GT12 cars and Rick has the production cars I'm sure!!

I posted earlier, but it seems to have disappeared.

I don't care what kind of car is run, I just want to have good fields and good racing. I will let the racers have a voice in deciding big wing or step spoiler bodies.

I'm just saying that it could be I'm not that fast anymore on that track but with my GT12 and a LMP body 3.2 on BLK and 3.35-3.4 on Red so I'm sure Rick is a 3.1 or lower and the GTP body will cut over 1-2 tens off anyway I'm for it.

You will have to get the wing guys moving be done by 2ish  and start Scale around 3-3:30 IF YOUR DOING THIS ALL IN 1 DAY

Jason

You are absolutely correct about the time issue. We are only doing 2 classes on the King and we will have to push it along.

I have been trying to figure out a way to do this so the scale guys have their own day, but the weekends are all spoken for with Retro and Hardbody. My thought was, we got some hardcore racers in the building racing wings, lets get some more hardcore racers in to race scale stuff. Maybe we get a few guys racing in both areas. And 3 of the classes are G12.

I have been thinking about this for a long time and this is the best I can come up with.

If anybody has any other ideas, post them and we can discuss them.

Mack Gt12 will work. I have a Slick 7, these cars we ran in San Diego with the same bodies we run on Thursday night racing. I am sure the Newer Toyota bodies we run now will work great. Yes you will need a choke of some kind. Fun class of racers to. These guys are fast.

Clarification, as I understand it:

GT12 chassis are NOT stamped steel chassis (flexi) but that are laser or edm cut SPRING STEEL chassis specific to the GT12 class rules. Typically, an LMP body is used for expert races.

The Production class has been a stamped steel Flexi chassis with a DTM sedan body. Both run an X12 motor.

OPEN12 class runs a spring steel chassis with X12 motor and LMP body (in most cases) BUT an OPEN 12 chassis is just that....open....such as a eurosport style chassis with a larger motor box to fit the C can.

 YMMV

Yes I understand and I spoke with Bill about what he is trying to accomplish.
My clarification was to post #7 above regarding the type of chassis for each of the classes.

Thanks Mike for clarifing the chassis. These classes we ran in San Diego were fun class to run. Be Nice to pull these cars out again. Did run a  Hawk 6 motor though like Chevy did with a upgrade arm. This was in the Flexis Chassis class.

I'm looking at some of the step spoiler bodies and they are not equal, some have more side dams and some have taller spoilers.

The one that looks best (to me :D) is the Ji950 Toyota, and it has a tall spoiler, but they also have a version with a lower spoiler.

Are we going to run a spec body, because otherwise we will be chasing "the body of the month thing"

If you run USRA rules you don't worry about That because those bodies aren't legal

still like to have a spec body... whatever is chosen, one less thing to mess around with.

It could even be a truck body, lol

I don't mind playing with tires, having a couple of motor setups... but having five different bodies to test and tune, ugh

of course there are many chassis to try also, but it seem to me chose a chassis that suit your driving style.

I have raced BSP, PMP, Mack.

I like the Mack as it seems to be the most forgiving

If we do this and we run the step wing body, everyone will be using Rogers Toyota/Nissan. Whatever its called. At this time they have virtually a 100% entry on the flat track, so no issue there.

To me it's a choice between big wing and step wing and I think most everybody wants the step wing

I suggest that the downforce be taken out of the formula and use only the JK line of LMP bodies for GT12, especially since the JK bodies have a very consistent wing and no side dams as do many of the newer bodies. The GT12 chassis provide plenty of handling.

With the newer "enhanced" wings and side dams you risk running a wing car class on the flat track. In my mind, not a good thing to add downforce and remove driving skill. The Ji950 Toyota (Mid America) body that is the body of choice on Thursday night LMP races provides too much downforce for expert GT12 even though it has a step rear wing.

Mike K makes a good point.
the better driver usually wins regardless.
the flat track at BPR has two areas where a driver shines, the donut and the leadon, at least that's where the good drivers runs away from me, lol.

I would like enough downforce in a body, so I don't look like a amateur in the donut and leadon, lol

But regardless, its up to Bill, he's putting the show together

Always difficult, who to cater the rules to.
I would say the fast guys will have a easier time to adapt than the newbie.
If participation is the goal, then gear the rules to the newbie, because he will drop the the sport if he realizes that he has no hope to compete.
And the fast guys should have enough wisdom to give a little to make the sport grow

The Production bodies ran in San Diego were Sadan type bodies like the Mercedes Benz I believe from JK there were a couple other bodies ran also, this was with the flexis chassis.

Looking up USRA Rules is quite confusing. The last update I saw was for 2018. Once we decide on what classes to run at BPR might be easier to figure out the rules. I am interested in attending the USRA nationals in April but will downsize the classes of racing, alot of classes. So membership USRA is required to race and is $15.00, Thanks
