Here's a picture Chris sent of the box that the new Gurney Ford bodies came in    I had a NOS body in one of these boxes a long time ago.   It was the only one I have ever seen.    This is only the second box I've seen.   Sure different than the retail packaging all their other parts came in.

Matt

Thimble Drome is Cox model airplane engines. Must be a old parts box.

Gene, it's the only slot car product I've ever seen from Cox in a Thimbledrome box.    All the other Cox/Thimbledrome products I've ever seen were either  gas powered cars or planes.

Probably had some left over boxes.

The box to me is nice piece of history, most likely only a few have survived.

Cox did make nicely detailed products.

I think it's probably worth $5k or more.    This has been setting on Funk and Wagnalls front porch since 1966.   Maybe we buy the $4000 red Gurney  and put it in this box, make up some good story and it is worth $15000 or more!!   I bet we can come up with a fantastic story.

Gene, most every one thinks Cox set the standard for hardbody slots.    Monogram and MPC did some great stuff, too.   Cox is the gold standard to most of us.

I've seen a coupe of these bodykits in Thimble drone boxes.

May be they had a batch of them unused and thought they might save money by putting the Ford Galaxie Stocker body kits in. Perhaps it was later in the the production run.

Has anyone every seen a card backed Ford Galaxie Stocker bodykit ?

Because I remember  seeing an advert in Cox's bodykit lists.

Regards Allan

Ten years ago I bought out what was left from a Chicago area hobby shop.  There were a lot of Thimble Drome packaged parts in there as well as slot car parts.  I don't remember seeing this exact box but it's similar to what some propeller and fuselage boxes looked like.
