Now that nearly all of our club cars are complete, I thought it would be a good idea to modify and repost the original. So here goes

With more time than usual on my hands due to the pandemic, I began thinking about slot car projects. I was inspired by some of the Early Modifieds that are currently being run by the PASER club in Oregon. It reminded me of some of the cars i watched at the Danbury Racearena durning the 1960s. Since most of our guys are not builders, I thought that our existing Econo chassis would be the perfect platform for the builds. All of our club members own at least one of these chassis. My first prototype ran so well that I decided to establish a separate class for these cars. Below is an image of the simple Econo chassis with front and rear push bars attached

My first build was a 37 Ford. I prevailed on fellow slot-head, Ron to create the vinyl decals using his Cricut machine (in fact nearly all the decals for each and every car in the class were cut by Ron’s machine). I enjoyed the cars so much that I took it upon myself to build three for me and several for others.

Below are images of my three completed rides (37 Ford, 32 Ford, 37 Chevy)

I did not like the way the 37 sat so far back on the chassis. Here is the updated version

In addition, I built cars for Scott (40 Willys), Rob (41 Plymouth), Ken (40 Ford), Mike (34 Ford) and Mark (37 Ford). These are shown below

Ron built a 36 Ford, a 33 Ford and a 39 Chevy shown below (images of the 39 updated).

Ron also modified one of Terry's old models to fit into the class. Below are a few images of Terry's 36 Ford

Ron built this Vicky for Bob

Bob is currently building a 40 Ford Sedan. See images below (I will post images of the completed car when available)

I know that James is working on an early modified (I think it is a 36 Ford). No images yet.

With much time on my hands I have designed a prototype embroidered trophy for what will become an Early Modified Race Series

Looking good, Rich!  If I had to pick a favorite, I'd say that flat black #36 is it.

About 10 years ago a CARS club mate who is no longer with us took a trip to Paradise Raceway in PA (Pretty sure they are no longer with us as well) and came back with an absolutely gorgeous Modified RTR they had in the case. I don't recall offhand if it was FCR based like the Asphalt mods that Billy was a big part of or something else, but it was off the charts cool.

Thanks Mike,

I like the diversity of the field - only a very few duplicates. All different colors/decal sets. etc.

I have updated the original posts to add Ron's 39 Chevy and my changed version of my 37 Chevy (I thought the original sat too far back)

For reference these are also shown in this post
