This motor didn't have the clip installed when I got it and it seemed okay but now I find the crown gear appears to be chewed up so thinking flex is doing that.  Dug a C clip out, gave it a go but no go.  Youtube videos all show C clips with much more space between the ends.  I've tried needle nose pliers and squeezing the bejesus out of them but no go.  Do I just need to squeeze more?  Is there a trick?  I think this is the same clip on a Monogram or is there another clip I need to get?

Thanks,

Vince

The way I've always done it, is to start at one end of the clip.

Place the motor through the hole in the motor bracket, hold the motor verticle with the bracket on top, place the clip on the motor bearing (with the burr side down, just my preference), hook one end of the clip into the groove, then work around and down into the groove with a flat blade screwdirver.

Getting it off, is just the reverse, starting at one end of the clip, lever it out and up, then work around until the clip releases.

Hope that makes sense.

Hardware stores in the fasteners section carry an assortment of clips similar to that that may even work better. Take the motor with you

Wrong style clip. Pretty sure they used an "E" clip. The only one I have handy has a Classic Ind. clip. I'll try to find one that has the correct one on it.

Your correct Jeff, and a E clip like this will push over the nose groove on the motor with a little help from flat nose pliers.

Yes, I was loading a pic at the same time.

As Paul suggests, you should find these at your local hardware store.

Thanks for the help.  Now to mask up and brave the hardware store!

Vince, I like the scale of your pic, looks like that will be an easy fit, once you find the correct size.
