As a kid, I did not pay much attention to the Strombecker range of cars, largely due to the fact that so much else of the time was quicker/easier to modify, and their factory finish/decorations did not encourage me to look any closer.

Well,.......many years later, I did take a closer look, and began to appreciate the quality of their molds, and figured with a bit of work, the could be made onto some very appealing models, and they did have some unique bodies, ones which fit in with some of our local areas club classes.

While I have posted some of these cars individually on various forums, I thought I would put them together.................( with the amount of "home time" I am spending these days as a result of our Pandemic, I am always looking for something to do, so , please indulge me in this "collection" post   :D )

All the following run on either the 2 piece brass Strombecker "competition" chassis, or scratchbuilt ones.

Cheers

Chris Walker

Those are beautiful! Absolute perfection. Where did you find that sort of mesh?

Hello Isaac,........I used to buy mesh from a company called Scale Scenics (they had all kinds), but, my local shop no longer carries their stuff................I now take a stroll around a Dollar store, and find appropriate mesh in tea strainers and the like :D ...........much cheaper as well !!

Cheers

Okay thanks, I does look exactly like mesh of that sort  :). I can't do nearly as good a paint job as you but with that mesh touch my cars will look a lot better.

Geez, those are incredible jobs! Do they all have the same type Strombecker motors?

Hello, Most have either the TC-32 (blue endbell) or Hemi 300 (red endbell) Strombecker can motors, in the Strombecker 2 piece brass "Comp" chassis,  A couple of the cars have been built up to comply with the rules of some of our local clubs' various classes, and therefore have motors/chassis  appropriate to those classes.

Cheers

Chris Walker

This is the chassis/motor under the McLaren M1B..........a wire chassis, and a 20K FF050 motor.

I am always put to shame when I look at the work Chris does.   He also  has a very nice home track.    What bugs me most is that every car is perfect!    I only get about 80% of that level on about 1 out of 5 cars!     Real talent to be able to model so precise.

I feel the same Matt. Chris's artistry is truly inspirational.
