The Aston Martin DBR4 is a Formula 1 single-seater having raced four Grand Prix of the 1959 Formula 1 World Championship and the 1960 Dutch Automobile Grand Prix with Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby .

I acquired this very confidential ASTON from a friend. he is very talented.

It is in resin at the scale 1/24

As it is a very beautiful car, I will try to make it a beautiful brass chassis

That will build a nice historical car.  I love the old open wheelers.     You might research some pictures, but probably the helmets did n't have visors and  may have been the early bowl type with leather around the ears.

Thank Matt, but 1959/60, it's not that old, and the helmets had visors

I'm looking forward to seeing your project Régis. Did you see the original chassis by Yves a few years ago at Bordo? Excellent!

I have the 1/32 version from our friend and it's also a beautiful model.

Great, you never know about the helmets and driver clothes.   It's nice to have the internet and access to pix of the old stuff.

It was not me who made this chassis, it is the person who made the body, he is also very good at painting drivers,

Is it possible to purchase one of those bodies.

I have made around 8 1/24 Grand Prix cars using Merit kits and resin bodies. I would love to add an Aston Martin to the fleet.

thank you

Hi David,

I don't think they're in "production" anymore, and it was pretty limited in the first place, but I'll ask our friend.

That's outstanding.   What is the source for the wheel inserts?

Probably his own resin castings, but am not sure about that. Will check.

Thank you all

David, I don’t think it’s possible to get a resin kit, he’s been busy with other projects since then, but we’re waiting for information from Don.

Regarding the inserts, I couldn't find the provenance, they are resin copies, probably of Japanese slot cars.

I worked on the car, and made 0.4mm aluminum parts to hold the windshield.

It’s always difficult to put a windshield on this type of bodywork, you have to stick it and it’s very fragile.

With these small parts, it's discreet and the windshield stands alone, it avoids getting excited

For fixing the frame, I made 2 brass parts so that it was easily removable.

Very neat body mounting system Régis - patented?

Turns out the inserts are copies of those from the Airfix Aston Martin DB6...

Thank you

No Don, there is no patent pending, the idea can be copied and used.

I fixed the pilot avoiding to make too heavy.

The wheels were made for 3 mm axles in order to be able to mount the crown.

And I changed head, because as I am unable to paint Carroll's overalls, I prefer to paint Roy Salvadori.

Since I think I will not be able to paint the dashboard

properly, I got around the problem by using a piece of black plastic that I made 5 bores on.

I then made small aluminum rings to simulate the meter surrounds.

I then applied a decal in the larger diameter and a drop of black paint in the other 4

I will have to simulate the 2 switches.

Regis, it looks very nice in the photos. In my opinion, it's far better than any painted piece.
