I think he can do it with two wires LOL
he has some magic, he can touch the track surface and determine what tires he needs
he drives my car for two laps and goes 0.2 faster than me

this is kind of what Duran does to everyone ----------------------------------------------------------
basically, he carries more speed thru the turns, which means more speed on the straights, LOL
with a trailing brake profile and a wire choke, I think I can copy (sortoff) what he does naturally...
the purple trace is the very good hand/eye driver, the margins are small so to be good at it, it has to be precise.
the motions are fast and quick, so actually the braking is too much, so turn speed drops too much.
Duran (orange trace) seems to "polish" all the hard motions and keeps the turn speed high, that is his magic!
now if you have the good hand/eye skills, keep on what you are good at, bc that method is simple, reliable.
2b like Duran, very few people can do what he does.
eg: my gf, she has good hand/eye, but it is 1 or 10, nothing in-between, she breaks her cell every three months.
not her nature to be gentle, so depending on your nature, drive that way bc that's what you b best at.

I recently acquired the new S&K v3. I’ve only had the chance to use it three times now, twice on two different tracks and once on another, so I’ll give my somewhat limited and subjective observations on it thus far. (All controller “reviews” are subjective, completely influenced by our personal preferences, feelings, and even biases.)
I also have the original S&K controller I got some years ago (that retired my Difalco HD-30, that retired my Difalco Fanatic, that…). I stopped racing with the S&K when I got a ProModel PMCR ICE G7, and that is now my back-up for my present controller of choice the ProModel PMCE BP260V.
I don’t know who else might be using the ProModel controllers, as I don’t know of anyone in the US, but they are a whole other story. These were the first controllers I had with traction control, which I now feel is a must-have. I learned a lot about adjusting all those settings they offer, so I’m not put-off by “all those knobs”. And the ProModels are beautifully crafted, controller artwork.
It should be obvious, I am a slot car controller whore. Any “relationship” I have with a controller will not be considered “serious” by others. I see one, got to have it, get it and tell it how much I love it… then another one comes along, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it…
The S&K v3 adds traction control and anti-braking that were not available on the original S&K. The S&K v3 has 32 bands, the old 24 bands (the ProModels have 35), and as such the new controller has new resistor modules (the original S&K’s chips will not work on the new controller).
First chance I got I replaced the Red Fox handle that came with the S&K v3 with a new Difalco handle (all my other controllers have Parma handles).
Adjustments seem to be smoother on the new S&K (though still relatively coarser than the ProModels). Driving with the S&K v3 was easy to get a “feel for”, I was able to quickly make adjustments, and run lap times comparable to the ProModel PMCE. The ProModels do not have anti-brake, and from past experience I didn’t think I would use it, but I tried it running retro Stock Car and F1 on the Oval at Fast Eddie’s. The two turns on that track greatly dictate lap times; especially the hairpin after the long straight-bank-straight; the lead-on kink if hit wrong can scrub a lot of speed going into the straight-bank-straight; I figured it would be easier to see the anti-brake effects on the Oval. Somewhat surprised, adjustments on the anti-brake in conjunction with the traction control made corner entry-exit smoother and lap times more consistent. Promising, this needs further testing, definitely.
That’s all I’ve got so far. The new S&K v3 is the only controller I’ve tried thus far that would ever make me consider not using the ProModel PMCE, and if the anti-brake proves beneficial this could become more likely.

really good review and assessment.
if all those difficult areas can be smooth out ----- faster laps. some drivers can do that (Duran), but I need help from the hi tech controllers LOL
