What ruleset(s) did they use? The latest rules listed in Steve's "Independent Scratchbuilder" forum are NCC from 1970, and they do not allow sidewinders or anglewinders in open wheel cars, period.

I need to know how wide my wheels and wheel tracks can be for my next build. Thank you

Pablo

Pablo, when the SoCal USRA (Arizona was a division of SoCal) started to play around we pretty much used NCC rules at the time. If you wanted to remain period correct use NCC, if it were me I'd use current widths. In the old days people didn't sweat tire or wheel widths much.

Good luck and have fun as I recall it was an exciting time racing cars that everyone was trying to get figured out. Some of the guys built iso-fulcrum cars while others built plumber railed cars with cross chassis tilties.

I believe Car Model rules were probably commonly used prior to NCC.  Normally I would check my stash of magazines, but I just packed them up to ship to a fellow slotblogger. Maybe he can help after he recieves them

I agree with John. They would have been using anglewinder GP cars in '69 so I would use the Car Model rules.

Thanks gentlemen, I know what to do now. NCC didn't allow inline GP cars, period. So CM it is  :good:

The clip above is from a 1968 ARCO rules set.

NCC never had the prohibitions that today's rules have, they mainly cared if tire diameter was right and that the mechanical s were covered with exception of a cooling port over the motor and a gear cutout. Below is a clip of the 1970 NCC rules taken from a SlotBlog post made by Greg Wells.
