I don't usually do hardbodies unless a customer asks.

This one is for Jimmy Bling and the body painted by Nesta, former member of this forum, and it looks great!

So after a month sitting here in the queue I finally opened the box and got excited to build it. The paint is beautiful and we have a Havlicek rewound Pactra Hemi to boot.

Fun project.

I painted up an interior that fits, made up of a Immense Miniatures drivers head on a Russkit Porsche 906 cut-down interior.

Wheels are Russkit with inserts and look the part.

Other bits....

The question I am debating is... do I hang on the bumpers or not?
Of course we need door handles and can do without (maybe) the windshield wipers.
But I am thinking of spraying the bumpers with either gloss black to match the stripe or Alclad to add some shiny bling.

Jaildoor chassis next!

I see Jimmy on Facebook daily. I haven't seen him on here in awhile. He's a collector, so you may or may not get a straight answer.

Really cool Jairus.  :good:   The full size car keeps popping into my mind with a bunch of negative camber in the rear. Lowered VW's really had that look.

Took a long time to cut and solder up the chassis.
Still need to attach mounting plates, but first I have to determine the correct track width and trim that front axle tube.
Then build a drop arm that allows for the short guide length.
Probably requiring a guide swap to a vintage cox.

Finally finished the Karmon Ghia yesterday.
Decided to install the bumpers which were sanded smooth, painted gloss black and then Alclad.

2v2acgENUxubMLY.jpg

Oh.... I also made a glass-pack exhaust pipe, which is the standard on a VW header system.

Final pics...

As anyone can clearly see, I swapped out the original guide for a Cox.  Purely to keep it shorter than the previous Russkit.
Still, adding a radius to the front valance was needed for clearance due to the short nose.  Thus the bumpers.... blah, blah, blah.

B:)  Keep the shiny side up!

There were a lot of companies making headers for VW's back in the day.
