I recently bought some boxes of cars and parts and received a few Tyco 952 chassis and motors. One of the NOS motors came in a bag with a DC65 6 volt arm and some ball bearings to suit.

Talking to previous owner he said he had planned to install the arm in the Tyco motor so the first thing I did was to do the motor mod.

Out of the chassis I received there was a built one with ball bearings on all four corners and it already had a modded motor with a DC65 arm but one of the bearings on the motor had failed so I figured this would be a great candidate for the new motor.

Already having a fleet of mid-'60s motored Kellisons and having a body left over I decided to drape the chassis in a Kellison body. Paint is Tamiya PS purple met spray and I hilighted the door and hood lines with a white posca paint pen. It's not the prettiest but I don't mind how it turned out.

After coming across an early '60s article on jalopy slot car racing, I started looking at gathering some parts to build one myself.

Using a Pittman DC85 and a Kemtron chassis, I have geared the car 60/26 at the moment. Rear tires are Rannallis and the fronts are the Strombecker ball bearing types.

Body is just from the junk pile and is fairly beat up. I just threw a few paint jobs on it and have sanded it to get a bit of a patina look to it.

No track testing yet but hope to get it on the track soon.

It's not the best video but the first test runs of the Jalopy.

Car is beautiful to drive the motor is very responsive & has great brakes.

I could nearly even put a bigger pinion or smaller spur on it than the 26/60 it has now the motor has that much balls.

Thanks John.

1/32 Cheetah I just threw together with a Ram 283 & a scratch built chassis made from 1/16 brass tube & some brass sheet.

Main objective here is to just see how the 283 goes around a track I have a few of these motors & they seem to be one of the only ones that does not have a chassis kit a available.

That's the first one of the variations of that International inline chassis I've seen run since I first saw the chassis in 2002. That one handles extremely well with the added brass strips & a little weight. That particular chassis would probably handle well, no matter what body it had on it. Tom, beautiful car, your friend did a nice job on the paint.  :)

Nice build Tom. Got any ETs yet? I'm curious how the Pittcan does on the strip... seems like it should be a good candidate.

Thanks Don got some runs out of it today I managed a 1.402 out of it.

The chassis is geared for a circuit so J don't think mid 1.3s will be out of the question but 1.4s are fine.

Thanks Phil.
It was given to me by a friend here who use to work at Australia's oldest raceway that closed last year.

This was old stock in the back of the shop he only grabbed 2 of them don't know if there was more there or what happened to them (or the pile of nos pactra bodies I saw in a photo he sent me).

I have been told they were originally made by Booth.

Interesting posts Don, too bad some of the pics are missing of the widened version.

Do you know if it was a plastic kit?

According to what I found at the time, the article was about a carved version, so a one-off - there was never a kit, just the vac-formed version it seems.
