So I have read all the posts on this topic... I would like to clear the air.

Nothing has been sold as of yet except maybe some HO cars that were put on eBay. I speak to Frank Perri Jr... He has assured me that he is really not ready to sell anything in the store as of yet. There are a total of six 1/24 tracks. Four are set up and two more in the basement.

Anyone that would like to purchase the tracks will be able to in due time. Just not yet. The tracks that are set up... you will have to take them apart and truck them to the new location. Frank does not want to get involved with breaking down the tracks... you buy it, you take it apart.

As far as the merchandise in the store, he is not ready to sell yet.

Believe me, when that time does come you will know about it .

As far as the Emperor track... it is still in the basement along with an American King.

There will be at least one more Memorial Race at BAR in the near future. I will post when that date becomes available.

I hope this clears the air.

Wherever that Emperor ends up will become a "Mecca" for old racers to visit at least once in their (our) lives.

I agree, Paul. If the owner puts it out for racing everyone is going to want to race on it.

I hope there is enough demand for all the tracks to be purchased and set up somewhere.

What auction company are you referring to, Bob?

Harris Brothers out of Michigan. One of their specialties is toys and they have a huge following live and online. They know how to advertise and market very well. Honest and fair with costs. Not all auction companies are the same, there are huge differences! If you would like further info, message me.

FYI the yellow Emperor track Buzzy had in the old days had the crossovers removed and replaced with Zs, not Ss, making the track pretty much undriveable. After that you would never see kids running on it any more.

Maybe he still has the crossovers in the basement and possibly someone can save the track.

If I remember correctly, Tony... Buzzy told me that he took out the Ss and put in straights to make it more race friendly.

I happen to like the crossovers much better...

Thanks for the update, Nick.

So happy to hear that this slot racing landmark will not be hastily cleared out and sold.

A graceful wind down, a final race, chance to actually get the contents into caring owners hands. Just what I think we all wanted to hear.

So we race on our Aristocrat every week. It is the original crossover track. Really difficult for color-blind people and really fun to drive once you get used to it.

The Emperor used the identical crossovers as American had many interchangeable sections. American made two and a half Emperors. The partially finished one was never finished and the parts were stored in Texas along with our Purple Mile.

When American folded, seven tracks went to the dump in Midland, TX. Four of them were Imperial Red 150s. This is a picture right after it was completely restored.

It happened a lot back in the day,.I remember when one of the local raceways closed in the '60s asking what was going to happen to the tracks, a red Imperial and a black Royal, and he shrugged and said, cut them up and burn them! I, at 12-year old, was shocked. The location of that raceway became a bar, and in my bar going days I used to go there and say, "we're sitting halfway down the straight on the big track tonight."

During the winter of 1969-70 a bunch of us street racin' delinquents slot raced in the basement of one of our mob on a Cobra shortened to fit. He got the track for nothing. The previous owner even disassembled it and moved to the house. We removed some of the front and back straights to make it fit. It kept us out of trouble for about six months. The track stayed in the house for a long time. I don't know what happened to it.

One of the most famous King tracks in the New York area was at the Glen Oaks raceway. After they closed that track went to a new location, I think in Bellmore, and was refinished with a beautiful metalflake purple surface by surfboard builders. I raced there every week. They did not get the pinball lap counter so my girlfriend/now wife and one of her friends counted laps. When that place closed the track was cut up and destroyed!

Why did that particular King have such a launch pad, Tony?

Because they never did any adjustments on the legs to minimize the ramps. Picking up ciggy ashes was more important. LOL.

A quote from Big Jim: "Oh, go away, Mildred."

I heard that many times when she was trying to stop his cigar ashes from falling on the bank.

Just out of curiousity, does anybody know how that neighborhood fared in the recent flooding in NYC?

That is not happening.
