As we get older we all might need help, so I am happy to buy my credits now even if it means that John might well clean my clock at race time.

OK Tore, you can slide the cash in the usual envelope. No checks please.

While I will not be able to attend this month due to another commitment, I do not have any problem with this arrangement.
I watched Tore try to get comfortable with a full day of racing throughout the week at the Masters in Chicago this past February and can see why he would "take a pass" on the long D3 schedule as it currently exists. Just trying to get comfortable for Tore is beyond what any of us have to do to prepare for a race day.
While Tore likes to mix it up on the blog, he certainly is missed when he is not in attendance at the races. It has been my feeling that the D3 crowd wants to get all the racers out when ever and how ever it can. We make other concessions to those who do not have the physical ability to marshal, why should this be any different?
My vote (if we're taking one) is YES.
So much DRAMA for such small cars....

It is common knowledge that Tore Anderson's tired old feet are indeed trash. I asked him on Monday if he was going to race in the upcoming Can Am D3 race at BP on Saturday, Sept. 13 and he said he was going to have to pass as his feet recently will not allow him to stand up for more than a few hours at a time. The arthritis in his feet (and his hands) causes severe pain when he is on his feet too long. With all the entries the Can Am gets he just decided it is too much of a strain on his feet. I told him that maybe I could qualify his car for him if no one had any objections and he said great. I would help out with extra turn marshalling to make up for his absence. I know we have done several things like this in the past, where one driver drives someone elses car, for whatever reason, but we just want to know if anyone has any problems with something like this before race day. Hope all is OK with Chris and Lenore.
I will also volunteer to help Tore out in any way that I can. I would be happy to fulfill turn marshalling responsibilities whenever I can. And anybody who has objections to helping out the Toremeister is not worthy of racing D3 anyway!!! Anyone disputing it better be ready to back it up.

I'm racing the best here at BP but Father time is much better then all of us united.
Not a snob in this hobby, after all it will be gone, if we keep on going like we do, and I have nothing to prove so I keep on posting because I have nothing to gain.
It's our duty to remember the past so we can have a future.

I'll bring a second stool for you to sit on! I can relate to the pain problem. It's hard to admit the body just won't let you do what you used to do. Hang in there.
can we make that one more chair to sit in / on for me too,,,,,,,,geeeeez we sound like the walking wounded here at BPR,,,,,,,lol
hey i got an idea, let one of us B racers qualify Tore's car,and Warmack or Cukras can qualify, mine,,,,,lol

Come on down Tore, will get you a nice comfy chair and a foot rest while your not racing to relax them old dogs. I'm certain we can find someone to marshal for you and it will only cost you letting me have a look at your chassis for 5 minutes with a pair of calipers and a scale!! Maybe even a camera so I don't have to remember.
craig, can you make duplicate copies of those stats,,,,,,,for this B racer,,
but even if we got em,we still gotta find someone to drive like he does,,,,,,,,heya tore, can you drive 2 cars at once,,,,,prob better than me with one still,,,,,,,

I don't like Bryan qualifying it though--it gives him too much practize when he's already beating our brains out!!!

Da Goat's gotta be there--- who else can we punish with smack talk if we get lucky to beat him????

Steube---too much like actual rules---let's keep it simple. Race where ya qualify! Da Goat's a "special case"!!

I like Mike's idea.
It's good for the B and C racers--of which I know I'm one--to see an A racer down there once in a while. If ya never race with those guys--you don't know what you can do! I know I benefit a LOT from driving with you guys-- it really helped me to understand where and when to push a car!! If I never got to see ya in the B and C once in a while because of some qualifying misshaps, I wouldn't have gotten that benefit! Racing where ya qualify is the ultimate fair way to race. Seedings are great for Tennis--but I don't see Nascar or F-1 going that route? IMHO

The races would be round robin. This way Tore could get someone to turn marshal for him and just show up for the race with last lane choice in the A race. From what I've seen with round robin racing this should be no problem as long as your in the race.
Ever consider running the race as one "big" round robin?? Like they did at the Zombie race???
Everybody in the same race, everybody races with everybody good or bad, less time to run an event, plenty of marshalls, overall lap totals determine the finish.

Maybe, but what about those "HAIR LAPPERS" that can make one fast lap in a minute of qualifying, but can't keep the car in the slot for eight heats of racing???

I think I'd rather have to negotiate a slower car in the next lane during one or two heats than to worry about getting taken out from six lanes away through the whole race. . .

Hoping to get back down there soon. Any reasonable accomodation for Tore or any of the D3 group doesn't bother me. It's supposed to be fun, right?

The "Trashman" Says--round robins SUCK!!
![]()
It just ensures that you can have really slow cars running with really fast ones!! Not a good recipe for good racing!! Kinda like the 24hrs of Le Mans--watching top class cars get taken out by slower class cars-- but it IS still racin!!
