Again, why are you taking offense to a statement that qualifying is better?

Because qualifying seperates everyone into different groups. If you're out for blood, or a $$ winner's purse, then that type of racing is the ticket. Besides, it takes too much time away from everything else to run a race that way.
Telling me I'm not as fast as Warmack or Stube is a no-brainer. Screw that. I want to be on the track at the same time, not sit on the sidelines and corner marshal for them while the "elite 8" are on the track.I'm know I'm not as good or as fast, but Bryan and I had a chance to race side by side and for a couple of laps we swapped some lexan.

" Take the chip off your shoulder, I support you and all the NorCal racers. This was said in the discussion of qualifying OR round robin-- I just made my preference known. Why do you make it a negative? Just enjoy putting your racing program together, and hopefully, we'll get to come up there and race with ya! :D
T

no chip, Tim- just replying to HOW you stated that qualifying was better. Maybe because we are a smaller, friendlier bunch makes the "all in" races so much more fun.
hope you qualified well today and got to run with the "elites". . . . and let's look forwards to next spring when the next Zombie takes place.

News flash! There is a really good chance my F-1 win steak will come to an end this Saturday. Duran will be running my backup car. :shok: I ran both F-1's today and they had no problem turning low 4.7's with crappy tires and no tuning. :) My new Can Am will dip into the 4.4's with treated tires. I expect a tenth faster with untreated. :D Let's see, if Duran would have turned some laps with the F-1, 4.6 or 4.5? :shok:

Hope this BS in this post changes the BS I just read in the other posts. :laugh2: I just wanna race for fun!

Hey--LET'S RACE!!! :D
That's all I really want to do--and to your point Jeff--I'm thankful for the opportunity to run with the "A" group once in a while! I learned a lot when I got lucky and made it up there, I have no illusions that I'm not ready to get there all the time. And with a gigantic group like the Zombie--qualifying would take too long--it worked fine -- I was very happy to be there and participate!
My reference to qualifying had to do with getting MORE people to drive within the A group! It was a response to Steube's suggestion that we create driver's class's--to help seperate the better drivers. I just thought IF we did that--I'd NEVER get to drive in the A group!! It would make it harder to get up there--not easier, because you would have "set" drivers automatically in the A--instead of having to qualify there. I may be wrong--but that's what I thought he meant--and I'd rather have qualifying, than a "seeded" drivers class. At least then, when an "A" guy has on off-day--someone from the B or C level--can get lucky and slip in? It's all good--let's RACE!!

Well Steube AND Duran in F-1?? Now that's going to be a driving challange!! Those guys can DRIVE!!! Still, look forward to trying to keep up! If it was easy--I wouldn't be interested! :shok:

Nice to see ole Steube gettin back to his old self ! :) (racin fur fun, huh, puleeze) :laugh2: Everybody knows we're off to La-La Land for a week or more unless we top da podium ! :laugh2: Yessir, great news from da Goat pen,the miss-iz Min-Pins finally nailed the neighbor kid(a real trouble maker)so allz well now ! :) But back on topic and this is even better ! Warmack is gunna sponsor me with new braid AND tires for this saturdays event,so it's clear we'll go one two one more time ! :laugh2: And like that wont be bad enough for the competition, weez gunna blow away the Concourse catz also ! :shok: Yes,our old clunker chassis may show a little rust and crust after like twelve wins in a row(honestly I lost count) But hey, youzall gotta get impressed with our Lookers ! :shok: Now we don't like to make everybody all stressed out on account we're good to go for saturdays Flat-Track Race, but rest assured,Da Goat has hired his own LOOKIE-LOO,just to keep it fair and square to the few that find it necessary to swap out to smaller diameter rear tires ! So you Bastid cheaters, youz been warned !   :shok: :o Have a nice week !

Hey--LET'S RACE!!! :D
It was a response to Steube's suggestion that we create driver's class's--to help seperate the better drivers. :shok:
T

in NCSCRA there are four different driver classifications: amature, advanced, expert, and pro. point standings are tallied during the season and after completion of the last race. the top two or three divers in each catagory are moved up till they eventually become "pro"s. we race four different classes, and run either "all in" if participation is small, or otherwise run races on two different tracks at the same time. experts and pros run LMP on the flat track while the amatures and advanced run NASCAR, then they switch and experts and pros run NASCAR while amatures and advanced run LMP. same order for NASTruck and GT12.

no qualifing, plenty of time to practice, and non-stop racing action for hours.
everyone competes at his own skill level. the reward is to get bumped up after a good season.
your destiny for that day isn't controlled by a good or bad qualifing session.
driver classification might be different down south, as someone would have to make the initial determination on who's the expert, advanced and amature.
I think it's pretty easy to spot the pros, don't you think?

just my thoughts.

Being humble has its advantages. There's nothing to prove except what you expect of yourself. For me, I can point to a pretty consistent advance every month I race at BPR. Last King track race, I did 292 laps, up from 286 the previous race, so I'm pleased with that. I'm expecting to break 300 soon.

So, what matters is being pleased with yourself. I turn a deaf ear to the critics. I'm harder on myself anyway.

Possible Duran got to the parking lot too late  Not only that, the last flat track race I remember, Duran blew a motor mid-race. Can happen to anyone, even Mr. Sterrett who also blew a motor in the same race. All things equal, Duran is the best IMO, but everyone has off days.

He must have changed that motor real quick because he finished in third place in that race ( I am pretty sure that it was his first D3 race) one lap down from first.
Also it is not legal to change a motor in a hand-out race.
So I am curious to find out what happened too... ;)

Thanks! We might be in agreement on more points than you think. :) I'm semi-serious about slot racing. Too serious takes the fun away for me. I was in 8th grade when I started racing and I still have an 8th grade mentality.

He must have changed that motor real quick because he finished in third place in that race ( I am pretty sure that it was his first D3 race) one lap down from first.
Also it is not legal to change a motor in a hand-out race.

The flat track race referenced wasn't a hand out motor event.

Paul packed it in when the motor blew. At that time there was quite a stir about the so called "back up cars". You remember that. Duran as well closed shop during that race. Maybe Duran finsihed 3rd in F-1, but the blown motor in CanAm finished his game. I'd be more than happy to bring up the subject of back up, but I'd like to not get my posts sliced, with all due respect.
