Good article. It doesn't touch on Penske's other racing exploits. It would take a BIG book to do that. Everything written about him so far has left out some accomplishments. You need to acquire everything in print, and put all the info together to get an insight of what he has accomplished in his lifetime.

the old zerex spl for one. he has been good for the sport. met him briefly, i was working for detroit diesel allison in the 70s when he bought them out. he visited every branch.

Roger was handed Detroit Diesel on a solid gold platter by GM. GM's inept management couldn't make DD work but Roger did.

if i remember correctly, one of rogers requirements to the deal was that he would not have to force DDA to continue marketing the 8.2 fuel pincher diesel. right sized motor for many applications, but very poorly designed. when DDA marketed the 4cycle series 60 and 50 engines, i think things began a turn a round esp in the transit and motor bus areas. the 60 was a "million mile" motor.
