I saved this add, and I have seen cars that look similar to this.
I question the drop arm, as I have pics of cars with the same drop arm that was used on the Super Bandit.
Does any one here have an original car and can they share pics?

That GE motor on a plastic track would be interesting.

I think I need pics from the LASCM to know which drop arm etc. was used.
Tim thanks for the part # list.
Michael, does seem a bit of a strange choice for a promotion shot. Really you guys could not find a wood track to show it off
"Martin,
yes, the LASCM has both models. Yes, both bodies were produced by Dynamic. I hope to be going there in the near future and will take pics.
Philippe de Lespinay"
So I am hope full all my questions will be answered with a pic or 2 of a boxed P4 car.

Great to see all the pics from the LASCM.
While taking the Visual tour I found a partial pic of the RTR P4. So I can see the rear half of the body. Would love to see the whole car and its under side.To confirm the correct guide part.

Martin, it is possible the car came both ways. Near the end of the rtr slot car business, they may have used whatever they had left that would work. There may be no definitive answer.

Victor did the P4, but I don't know which body he did, probably Lancer. I would assume Dynamic used an original Dynamic mold, but that kind of detail is hard to find out is the late years of slot cars. Philippe may have some info whenever he checks in again. Production in the 68/69 years must have been miniscule compared to production 65/66.

This is a quote from Rick
"Dynamic actually had two versions of the P4 that were VERY different yet used the same part number "
In the add, it looks like the long body, in the RTR box at the LASCM of what I can see, it looks like the short body.?
Thanks for the help guys

To me the art work looks is the long version of the Dynamic P4 and While gathering the parts today I realized the RTR car had to have the short body if using the same guide tongue as the Super Bandit. It fits the short body wheel base perfect.
There maybe 2 versions of the RTR P4 as they could use the adjustable WB tongue and fit it to the long body. But the timeline of the RTR car suggests the short body was in production at that time and superseded the long body.
To be confirmed by Mr P when he gets time to take a pic of the boxed car at the LASCM, pretty please

Did a bit of chassis assembly today. These are the 2 variables. The one on the left fits the longer P4 body and you can see the chassis on the right is about 1/4'' shorter and fits the later short P4 body.
After cleaning the body mounts I noticed the rear tangs are different lengths. Which side is correct

Sounds like the short body might be correct. We'll know for sure when Philippe can gets some pix. Same for the brass side pans. The picture will show the correct assembly. Maybe Philippe will check in the next few days.

I would love to put my guess work to rest.
What I surmise is that when the art work was drawn and the add photo taken, the car was planned to have the long P4 body, which was currently in stock.
Then in 68 the short P4 body was put in production for better handling possibly? Same part number as we now know.
The new Short P4 body has a shorter wheel base, the solution was to use the shorter Super Bandit drop arm.
Only the evidence at the museum will tell if these assumptions hold water?
What does seem strange to me is when I do a search for this RTR car I get no pics of the factory RTR P4 car. Is it that rare? was it even sold in decent numbers?
Or did it arrive to late to the party?
The stamped brass Dynamic angle winder ( in the same box BTW) was cheaper to make and in more demand than the inline GE motored lump.
Thoughts welcome, and if anybody has this car. Please please post a pic.

The car at the LASCM doesn't seem to have metallic but I can't really tell.

Wish I knew someone going to the LASCM. Love to have them take some good pics. Then I would have confidence I am building an exact clone.
Is it that rare that no one in our circle has one or a pic of one? Was it never widely sold?

Some time ago Matt posed this pic of an ebay lot.
Looking again, what was thought to be a Super Bandit chassis, is not.
The GE motor is there, the side pans and the short P4 body. This was a RTR P4 I am sure
Yes it has the same drop arm as the Super Bandit confirmed.

That looks right! Make sure to show the final result.
