That is the one in the kit and you show on the left. It is not the RTR body which is the 330P4 Dynamic body, thats the one I am looking for.

Is it just a optical conclusion( that's where you look at something and come to the conclusion that it's****uped)or is the front of the body pushed in?

Hard for me to tell if this is the long or the later 1968 short body. Can you take a measurement of the overall length please. I have a long body I can check it against.

Thanks Mark Hass, I am sure that is the one.

Sure wish I had bought a couple when they were available. :dash2:

Mark O, the way you can tell is the short body has side windows that are less round and has no rivet detail on the back window.

It has a overall length of 7". The existing mounting holes are ~= 2 1/2". The Dynamic chassis (stomped brass) that I want to use has Mountings holes 1 1/4".

Mark O, you have the long body which is the body shown in post 1 in the Dynamic add.

We are still not sure if this body was used on the RTR car.  It may well have been used on some early RTR cars.

Until we here from Philippe we cannot be sure.

Philippe hope you are well. Please check in when you can.

Made some progress on the chassis today. Found some usable soft blue tires. Trimmed to 15/16" X 5/8'' wide.

I put a .050" washer under the rear axle blocks. Figuring this would put the pinion closer to center.

Brand new DM (out of the package) 3/4" fronts, cleaned up and they give the perfect front clearance. Using a 2-3/4" front axle gets it to 3'' .

2.5'' rear axle with flat for Dynamic gears set screw. Sets the rear track to 3'' also.

Gear ratio is 2.666 to one with a 12t pinon and DM 32t inline gear for this torque monster.

The stock wires are stiffer than others and must be pre-set in the guide to allow the brass clip to be pushed in with less force.

Looks great, the motor is bigger than I thought previously. Almost 36D size it seems.

Its a brute Isaac. Smaller than a 36D,  1/8'' shorter and .015'' lower and .080'' smaller in diameter.

Minor correction the gearing is 12 -33 giving a 2.75 to 1 ratio, which what Dynamic recommends for the GE motor.

Matt, thanks, those stiff wires are what came on the GE motor from Dynamic. But interested to see what you found. The GE wires are fatter than other more common factory wires.

The wires are correct size and kind of the  correct color, no writing.  They are 22 which is small, not as many strands as the old wire this diameter had.  Probably the old wire was 18 with thinner insulation.  This will be fine for most restorations.    For actual racing, I would think doubling of the wire is required, or just use some of the new fat wire..

I have a new GE motor and it has that stiff wire.     I'm surprised that H&R uses stiff wire on their slot car motors today.

Endeavor to persevere. Or something to that effect. Looks like you're off to a great start. Just out of curiosity, what's the centre to centre on the body mounting points?

Look forward to seeing the wire you found Matt. :)

Mark there are 6 holes on each side of the body mounts. The 2 furthest apart are 2.3'' apart. Next 2 are 1.8'' apart.  Then the 2 that are closest together are 1.3'' apart.

If you lay that out on paper you will see there are a few combinations you can make. Basically the holes are 1/4'' apart from each other.

Lay it out and it will all make sense  :shok:

Hope that helps?

While looking through the Motor Trend virtual tour at the LASCM I found a much better pic of the P4 RTR in question.

I built both chassis versions of what I Imagined the early and late versions to be.

At some point maybe Mr P can take a pic of the car in this box to confirm my guess.

Nice job Joe. Victors bodies are the best too.

I am surprised how few RTR originals there are around. Yours is a nice recreation. I hope mine turns out as well.

Is that a metallic red and what brand is it?

I'm pretty sure that's where I copied or added the side pans for this car that's painted. The one that is in the box Slimline is still in touched.

Joseph Migliaccio. Karma it's a wonderful thing.

"Drive it like you're in it!!!"

"If everything feels under control... you are not going fast enough!"

Some people are like Slinkies... they're really good for nothing... but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
