Quick tire size gauge

With a small tire and lower clearance, it might not clear.
Regardless, not a big deal.
Just make the slot a little wider.
It won't affect the function.

What range of sizes would you need for Retro?
Like Tim said, I'd add (at least) .790. .810, .813 and .820 and any in between. I'm not sure if it would be better to put the larger sizes on another board or add them to the existing one; it might start getting a little bulky??
OOPs, I think Dennis said the same thing quite a while back...

If the axle reference was the thought that you would go from the inside out, it will never slip over a bare axle on both sides of the car.Question: would something like this be better, do you think?
It has clearance slots that could slip over a 1/8" axle, or the pan of a chassis could slide in the slot for easier measurement.

There would be at least a spacer on one side.
Assuming it's thin enough to fit in that gap, the slot would have to be wider than the spur gear hub.Just make the slot a little wider.

I'd like .710 to .820 -- that would cover every size I could need from Flexi to Retro cars.
Okay, can we get some type of vote on this?
Tire size ranges 0.710 to 0.820 in 0.010 steps.
1/8" notch. (You can file or cut this to whatever width you'd like at your own discretion and risk.)
If I see enough "YES", then I'll get a quote to have 10 made up. I'm keeping one for myself, of course.

I'm good with .810-- a snug fit will get you .812 without a problem. And many times I start practicing at .820--to give myself wear time down to .812 for minimum racing size.
I'll take 4 of them please--I know several racers that will want them.

I'll take one...as you spec'ed in post 29 but would really like to start at .700 if there's enough demand for that change.
Thanks!

That's why I suggested 2 separate boards. .700-whatever for most cars, .790-820 or so for retros. I'll take 3 of whatever you decided on!

All this gauge block stuff is great if that's what you want, go for it.
I am sticking to my dial Calipers I have been using for years. they measure any size I want.
Just saying.

Are you at 10 yet ?
I would buy 1 or 2 if available Paul.
Mike
Here's what I have so far:
bbr - 2
Tim Neja - 4
spudboy - 1 (if you race at Modelville, tell Richard I said hello! If he doesn't remember my name, just say it's the Toadsucker)
mgerbetz - 1 or 2
With mine, that would be either 9 or 10
Guys who may want them, even without a .700 or .813, and not in 0.005 increments:
Boxerdog - 3
aquavelvo - 1
Racer36 - 2

I will take just 1 in case that helps you or anyone.

To be sure--I'm only interested if you have the retro sizes per my request. If you don't include those--I don't need them. And I don't need .812 etc--.800 .810 .820 is FINE

I will take 1 Paul if Retro size is available. I race 1/32 cars as well if that gets in I will take 1 of those too.

Would be good then to make two versions to accommodate. Would keep the gauge more compact and allow more range in the sizes of that particular gauge.
If that's the case, I would take two of each

I guess people are divided on the range of sizes.
Gee, you think? .710 to .820 in 0.010 increments, maybe 0.005 increments, but I'd also like .700, maybe .813, flexi and retro, and possibly to replace the tires on my 83 Chevy Malibu.
Here's what I've decided to do: I'm having a few made up to fit my needs, which was my original intent. I'm going to hand the extras out to some of the guys at the local track and ask them to try them and give some feedback. It really doesn't cost me any more to make up 8 of them than it does one, since I still buy the plywood, and have to pay a minimum half hour of laser cutting time. THEN I'll decide if it's worth re-designing one, or just chalk it up to a bad idea and say the heck with it all.
