Yes, these are basically 3V motors for use on battery power, but there was a whole range of them, from small to large. Originally intended for powered toys and models, but adapted for some of the early slot car systems, including Strombecker and Eldon. I think the Strombecker cars like that ran on 6V, not 12V, where they wouldn't have lasted long.

There's probably more info on here, under Kako motors, like this ad from the August 1959 issue of Model Maker, the British mag.

Don is right as always. The Kako motors ran on 6V.

Is everyone here more interested in the boxes or the motors ? It will save me a lot of time (posting) and, not waist yours if I know which, or both you prefer.

Personally, Mark, I'm always interested in both, but more in the motors!

Ask and you shall receive.
It would be great to have all of them in one place. Unfortunately, all of Philippe's work was lost. A monumental feat, lost.

What of Philippe's work was lost? Something that was left out of his 2nd book? This thread is beginning to read like it's missing posts.

Bill, in some threads ,old threads, the photos are lost. There was one in particular by Philippe ,a extensive one, that I was referring to.
So I guess it's time to revisit it? Maybe a new thread? What do you think the odds are of doing this in correct order? 😂

Anyone have any information on the Testor motor. Maybe the year & what it was used in?
Like wise for the torque monster?

The Torque Master was strictly an aftermarket offering Mark, never offered in a car - in fact most of us never knew it existed! It was probably sold only around Detroit.

The Testor Turbo MkIII was offered only in their Ferrari P3 Spyder I think, but also perhaps in a chassis-motor combo.

Here's the car, with a repro body.

Not identical. I think that motor will look better in the case than under this car.
