Considering the card and the corroded staple I'd say check the Wayback machine.
I've got no clue, just vague memories of many slot car companies named after car parts and small fast critters.

Could this have been bought in quantity from REH and resold?

Floyd at Make-All Enterprises most likely made those. He also made Parma braid forever (all strand sizes)... other than that REH had a braid machine and Associated Electrics had one too. Floyd retired 20 years ago and sold off his company. I believe his braid machine is now in Indonesia.
Floyd would knock out 150,000 to 300,000 pair at a time. He'd hold inventory and required a minimum 20,000 pair purchase.
All these brands were just repackaged product. I'm sorry to burst the bubble.
Things have changed however and several people now have invested into making braid instead of bulk buying and repackaging.

Steve,
Bob Haines once told he recycled all the little bits of brass that was cut out of the brass for the braids he made and I think it was in the neighborhood of $1500 that he got for it. That's a lot of scrap brass.

If kept "clean" and sorted brass and copper bring very good money on the scrap market.

They were no doubt bought in bulk and repackaged ........................many years ago. These are OLD Braid ..............but are just as good as Parma Big Mama.
They come 8 sets to a pack.......................

Does having a bit of crazy glue on one end, qualify as "clean". LolIf kept "clean" and sorted brass and copper bring very good money on the scrap market.
That potato salad bucket would have 7 or 8 lbs. in it, if I didn't come up with a brass version with post support, and tungsten ones, that don't yield any scrap.

In the scrap metal industry "clean" means no mixed metals (aluminum & steel or copper & iron for instance), consistent size, no excess oils or coolant. The box you showed is "clean".
Make sure to save the tungsten! WC(tungsten carbide) is getting beyond $12/pound now and it doesn't take much to make a pound....
