[Mad Mark]

think caught the sickness. painted this body the other day so had to build a chassis for it! First thingie build.

only took a couple pictures cause my work isnt very sano so no need to see it up close haha.


setting ride height. About 1/16.


Ended up using a Johnson shigoto motor. why not. and awesome ugly green jet flag!

drop arm arrangement. I like to try and add something weird to my builds if I can.

Unfortunately all my cox quick change are occupied at the moment. good thing theirs no purists at the track let alone anyone that even glances at my vintage cars!

and that bracket was with a lot of parts I got don’t know who made it. if you look close the stamping is wrong and the passenger side pillowblock has more meat on it. Kinda weird.

Nothing wrong with a Jet Flag.  But that motor bracket looks a bit like a champion, but I could be mistaken.

Thanks! The two main rails on both sides are rod and the rest is tubing. has a bit of flex curious to see how it works.

I actually never under stood why I have never seen a original period sidewinder Thingie, a conversation for another day perhaps?

Martin, I think it is Don Siegel in Paris who owns an original period anglewinder Choti. It's the only one I recall seeing. It has been posted online several times.

No offense taken I appreciate your encouragement and always helping out. sorta wanted to use parts that aren’t scarce so I don’t have to worry about wrecking them if this runs good. might try to make it to the track today to test.

"Vintage Police" never have had a say-so in Thingies here at Slotblog. There are no rules in Thingies. You can put a modern part on a Thingie and the VP is powerless to say anything      Your car is awesome.

 

I've used modern Tamiya metric ball bearing O-ring front wheels on many of my Thingie builds ( a Maximo trick) and nobody ever complained.  A Jet Flag on a Thingie is fine, Mark

this chassis really needed a proper body. actual old build I fixed. again with Hong Kong motor. would be a lot cooler with the 517 that came in it!

Went testing and it works! On the flat track it has some chatter in turns. swapped to some 1/8 narrower tires to try and lose grip and it helped a little. kind of a handful but not too bad if you drive a little timid you cant push or it chatters.

On the king track it was on rails. can punch the bank and punch the donut and blip all the banks. given it is pretty slow but pretty happy. only added a thin guide washer and did the rear tires.

this is sorta a thingified real car. Had this body forever. it was actually on the first vintage car I bought at a antique store. been looking for the chassis forever and finally found one. wondering why there arent more floating around? also not much info on this particular car. pretty much pieced together with wrong guide and wrong front wheels etc

hmmmm either build up a modded manta ray with a beater chassis im getting or I have this collected.

K&B jaguar, some NOS set screw Riggen tires, unknown front wheels, and a cox guide.

have some pretty decent old bodies to work with just havent decided what to do yet.

Was able to fix this hulk into another manta ray. wrong front wheels, rear tires, and guide but good enough for a beater runner. also couldnt put a classic motor in because I cant get a pinion puller over the pressed on pinion so the motor is trapped! Oh well.
